I was writing a post giving you all the info but I had problems with the broadband connection :( - and then I see that you got there first!

The birds have been named Appio and Vergine - Appio was the first aqueduct in Rome and Vergine as the nest is situated at a source of pure water which feeds the monumental fountains in Rome, including the Fountain of Trevi (where they say you should throw a coin and make a wish if you want to return to Rome). As the other two pairs in Rome have names starting with A and V it was decided to continue in the same way.

I'll try to keep you as up to date as I can, otherwise you'll have to look at our forum and follow the picture story ;) .

To date, Aisha has been the first to lay eggs in the nests with a cam in Italy but Bologna has been soundly beaten this year. Let's hope it's a good omen for the year after the annus orribilis 2009.

Congratulations, Appio and Vergine! It looks like she's incubating now--maybe only one more egg. :congrats :toast

Hello,
I'm Carlo, new to this forum, and incidentally the one that manages, together with Giac, all the cams from the internet site www.birdcam.it.

As you have found, we have now 4 active cams on peregrine falcons, and a new cam on a bird feeder in Umbria, central Italy. The cam of Aloa and Falcao is indeed the one that was active last year, and was briefly on ustream a few days ago, as some of you discovered (I'm impressed! ;) ).

Indeed, we had it on ustream to check the presence of falcons on our own, but after all we decided to send it with still images. The images are unfortunately disturbed and there is no audio yet, so still images are the best solution!

by the way, indeed we have a very healthy population of peregrines, more than 5 pairs in Rome, and about one hundred in the region.
we hope that you enjoy all the cams of our site!

Have a nice day,
Carlo
