They sound just like Frank and me when our kids went off to college! A good feeling as parents knowing that you did a good job raising your young.

Sad news! Lost another Eaglet :( A83 is one of this years eaglets on Santa Cruz Island :tissue:

"I'm sad to say the update on A-83 is not good. He passed away today shortly after 5:15pm. Although we tried our best, and the Ojai Raptor Center did all they could, he was too sick to make it. I'm just grateful that he was comfortable and warm at the end. They will conduct a necropsy tomorrow to try to find out why he died. I will keep you updated."

We lost K24, Megwich ... the only male from the West End nest this year. He was the one who had the fish hook stuck in his talon. :(
Quote:
On Thursday morning the 6th of September, we received a call from the camp at Cherry Cove. We were told that K-24 was found washed up on the shore deceased. Cherry Cove is on the north shore just west of Two Harbors. Dr. Sharpe went over to collect K-24 immediately. Perhaps, K-24 had tried to join his sister K-27 on the mainland and did not make it.

Also ... A81, aka Buster, from the Sauces nest got VERY lucky and was rescued from an 'erosion crack' that he couldn't get out of. Helen found him, called for help, they got him out... fed him ... and set him free. He wasn't injured, just stuck!

Work has been ongoing/started on the cams. :)

Liberty is seen preening and enjoying some quiet time on Bluff Branch Saturday morning. This was the first time I had seen her on Bluff Branch for the 2012-2013 nesting season. I have still not seen her with her mate of 7 years, Patriot. I am anxiously awaiting their reunon!

Liberty is busy moving sticks around when her mate Patriot comes flying into the nest. This was taken on Thursday 10/25 around 6pm from the Swamp Spot. This video is a bit shaky because I did not have the plate that attaches the camera to the tripod!

:sum10: Now here is a reply from MsEaglewoman that is super great
I ask if the cam would be put up this year at Caltrans Turtle Bay

Yes Janice, there are 2 eaglecams installed but they aren't going live until 12/1/12.
I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

This video was taken around 6pm on Tuesday evening. Patriot & Liberty are perched side by side on their new Lookout Limb, overlooking our city.
Their nest is to their left and up a bit, you can see it more clearly when I pan out at the end of the video.
