I read the comments and I guess the hippos often help out zebras, wildebeests and other creatures. Pretty cool. |

I was fortunate to participate in returning one of the American Eagle Foundation fledglings to them last week. As I have been told, P7 came down in a nearby park apparently trying to land a meal. She went under and got soaking wet. Once she made her way to the shore she made no attempt to fly and the group I volunteer for was called. She was easily captured and had no injuries. Since she was banded we were able to track her down to one of the Pigeon Forge nests managed by the American Eagle Foundation. I do not know her complete history, but I do know that she was recently hacked along with other juvenile eagles. Rather than release her, AEF requested her return to them so they could examine her and let her have a do-over. I was more than excited to drive to Tennessee on Friday and be a part of her journey. Here she is several days before her return: With her tracking device: |
