Thanks again Catbird. Yes, we got the storms last night. Cooled things off, but not for long.

We're sending some nice, mild weather your way, Faith! We were finally able to turn off the air conditioners (at least for this morning) & open the doors & windows. Cats are thoroughly enjoying being able to look outside & hear the birds (as am I)! :spingirl:

Nancy, that is what I dislike about air cond. Being all closed up! I too love to hear the birds, especially at 5:00 A.M. They sing their hearts out then. The falcon's must be enjoying these temps too! At least the nest in Wilmington, is on the shady side in the afternoon. Smart birds!!

Both of them were perched on the building when i drove out of town three hours ago (6:00 pm EDT): Red Girl all the way right on the nest box ledge as you face it, looking out, surveying the city, and CJ on the ledge two bays to the right, facing the building, just chilling out. Feathers I hadn't seen before were mourning dove (a bit matted, so before yesterday's storm) and wing feathers that have the same color and sleek quality as the first chimney swift tail feathers a week or more ago. so CJ's caught at least two. No fluke.

Thanks for your eyes yesterday Greg. Boy! CJ is quite the hunter. His size doesn't hinder his speed. Maybe it helps!

Thanks for the leftover feather observations, Greg. It sounds as if CJ is expanding his menu choices!

I didn't see anyone in the nest box this morning, but I just managed to see CJ there a couple of minutes ago.

CJ was the early bird this morning.

Explosion of pigeon feathers this morning five diagonal blocks from the Brandywine Building, but none on the sidewalk around the building itself. The falcons probably are catching more pigeons than I'm seeing but not bothering to carry them home to eat.

GREAT CATCH GREG! I GUESS THEY ARE A BIT HEAVY ESPECIALLY IN ALL THE HEAT TO CARRY THAT FAR! THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO GIVE YOU A WORK OUT TO BROADEN YOUR SEARCHES

Great news about the pigeon's Greg. They will "fatten" up Red Girl and CJ for the winter. As if they need it!

One of them just left. Looked like Catbird's picture of CJ this morning.

Storm just stopped and CJ just jumped off the box ledge. Flicker head on the sidewalk this morning. Appropriate-sized prey for either Red Girl or CJ but I think that it's another case of CJ being a chip off the old Caesar block. Maybe cuckoos are getting hard to come by.

Thanks for the prey report, Greg. It's nice to think of CJ carrying on his dad's traditions.

I had the cam up this morning while I was working on other things, and one of the falcons was sitting on the box ledge with only the tail visible for a long, long time. I'll bet that was CJ as he seems to like sitting on that ledge.

Oh, geez, a Flicker head. Can deal with seeing feathers, but not sure how I'd react to find the head. Guess it wouldn't make much difference to the Flicker, though. :-)

I was waiting to see the red band to confirm the ID. But since Greg thinks it's Red Girl this morning, I'll say it's Red Girl also.

The bird looked big and round headed to me which is why I thought Red Girl. But appearances can be deceiving I know. CJ looks pretty big when he's close to the camera too. We know he was here this morning because new yellow-billed cuckoo remains are on the sidewalk.
