Thanks for your report, Nancy. Did you by any chance look on the railing high above the back of 333? Have seen Mom several times there.

I looked there & didn't see anybody. After posting that I ONLY saw Lil Dad, I thought that sounded pretty cold, but I do love Lil Dad. Just wanted to see at least Mom if not the boys, since nobody (that we know of) has seen them in several days.

Ljames, I guess that is Lil Dad. He was on the point when I left at about 8 p.m., but I guess he moved up shortly afterwards.

Just a brief Lancaster County report here; went down to the Columbia-Wrightsville bridge with Jane and another friend today to see if we could spot the falcons; there was an adult (we thought maybe the male) perched on the dead tree when we first got to Wrightsville, but he didn't stay long. By the time we got situated and had our scopes set up, he was gone. That was the last peregrine we saw the whole time we were there, but we did see tons of butterflies, several great blue herons, green herons and egrets, a large white domestic goose, double crested cormorants, and hundreds of miscellaneous gulls and terns. About an hour after we got there, Jane spotted a pair of osprey flying from the area of the Rt. 30 bridge toward the 462 bridge. They seemed to circle briefly before one landed on a dead tree trunk several arches to the right of the falcons' dead tree perch and the other continued on past the bridge. The osprey that landed on the dead tree did not get any response from the adult falcons - I guess they must not be too concerned with any threat they might pose, as he stayed perched there entirely unchallenged for well over an hour. After a while, we saw 3 more osprey flying around in the area - one caught a big fish and flew away with it clutched in its talons. Eventually we decided to move our observation over to the Columbia side of the River; we watched from the Riverside Park and Boat Launch area - saw another great blue heron, and watched a gull succesfully snatch a fish from the River. Round about the time we were ready to head home, there seemed to be a signal and the whole flock of seagulls started flying en masse toward the Rt 30 bridge, and I saw a Bald Eagle flying above them in the opposite direction. A-Maz-Ing!!! Even looking through my binoculars it was pretty small - I could barely make it out at all with the naked eye - but the white tail and white head are pretty unmistakeable. So the biggest thrill came just as we were leaving. I hope that next time I go, the falcons will put in an appearance - maybe I'll try an evening run over the weekend and see if they are more active once the afternoon is cooler.

Great story Westwindschild and Jane. Sorry you didn't see any falcon action, but it must have been an exciting trip with all the other birds. Thanks for posting it.

Glad to read that Mom and Little Dad were bonding in the scrape this morning. Don't know where Mom goes for most of the day. And it WAS a nice day yesterday trying to find the young falcons on the Wrightsville Bridge. Of course, we didn't know exactly where on the bridge the nest site is. Hope those young ones fledge on the north side of the bridge. There are plenty of landing places on that side, but not so on the south side.

Well, he's out in front of the scrape right now on part of the stick, but still on the ledge. Thought it might be a juvie at first, but it's Little Dad.

It's nice to see Lil Dad keeping such good watch over the ledge. But it was especially nice to see Mom today. I just hope that we see more of her tomorrow!
