No, nothing is wrong with your video .. they just never moved (well, barely :teehee: ).. Hopefully, I arrived too late to catch the REAL bonding. .

Durand is looking very sleek and trim!!!

I almost forgot to report about my sighting from last evening - I arrived downtown around 5:30 on my way home from work/school so of course I had to stop and check out the ledge. I was sitting on the steps of the statehouse, looked up and lo and behold there was a falcon sitting on the Rhodes tower on the ledge to the right of the nest ledge. I think it was Spark - my best guess. I watched him sit for at least 5 minutes when all of a sudden he was flying past the building headed towards the LeVeque going west. Then I lost track of him. It was exciting to see him fly and since it did not look like the d-drop I just figured it was Spark. That is the first time in a long time that I had even seen a falcon there in the evening.

BTW - a friend of mine who I have shared my love for the falcons has also been watching out for them - he told me that he watched one of the falcons snatch a bird in flight - I have never seen such a sight as much as I have been watching so that was a really great report from my friend.

I will of course look every evening when I am downtown

I just checked the web cam (9:40) Durand was coming out of the nest box and walked to the end of the ledge - I could tell she would not stay long but I did not want to open up the still pictures for fear of missing her departure, with my delay, I did miss the still picture of her being on the ledge - she did her famous d-drop and was gone a few seconds later.

From around noon today. . .

I opened the cam, and found all this "excitement"!!!

Image

Now, I don't know what happened prior to this, but Spark dozed on and off for about 7 minutes. . :teehee:

Durand finally made a move!!! (not a lot to see, but I'm pretty sure they got in some good beaking. ..that is until Spark started cleaning his talons. . :imbored: ) No need to watch the whole thing. .nothing earth shattering.
.

Eventually, Spark moved around to where we'd have a better view. .not much beaking, but at least he stayed awake. .looked like he had had a meal prior to all of this. .no wonder he was ready for a nap.

Wow, Poor Durand...she has had the whole spectrum of males (except experienced)

This is how I thought of FlightyBoy- examples: :wildman:

Matrix was good but unsure: :nicetomeet:

Then FlightyBoy again... :nervous:

Now, Spark, he is so laid back... :girlhot: I love how he stands his ground! He will be a great daddy! :teehee:

Wow! What great pictures and videos of Durand and Spark together.

Matrix - Your characterizations of Durand's male companions are right on! Spark sure seems like "a keeper," and I hope he stays at home with Durand during the winter.

Look at him so brave and confident! Flyboy and even Matrix never held their ground the way that Spark does. I hope so much that he is still here next year and that he and Durand have a future at this nest.
