:agree: Exactly! It's 1,000% better then what could've happened to her on those rocks had alert security (from the very building she may have impacted) not spotted her.

Thanks for the report, Mike. Looks like I'll be getting that falconer's license after all. Let's see, 6 - 7 weeks puts it around end of September and the Focus on Raptors isn't until Oct. 16. Maybe she will still be there when I go for pictures.

Now we have to arrange another joint trip to JC to really scout out where those other girls went.

Education birds live very good lives, and usually much longer lives. As you say, it could have been much worse. A falcon as an education bird...wow, not many of those!

Bonnie, are you really going to become a falconer? I would love to!

I would love to become a falconer. With 16 birds of my own, it would be hard to find the time. Although, I have a barn and falcons would really love it at my house. Lots of pigeons, HOSPs, starlings, robins, doves, etc. At one time I considered starting a pigeon loft. Amer Fed of Pigeons was really interested in getting some new blood. But I soon rejected that idea.

Our Jersey Girl is young enough that she might adjust to life in captivity. Once a bird knows the benefits of living with humans, it is tough for it to return to the wild and have to catch all that food itself. I could join our local raptor group, but it takes time away from my parrots. One absolutely MUST be there weekly for the birds. They soon bond.

Wow! My paternal grandparents are from Chester, PA, just across the river from Paulsboro. I was thinking of taking a trip down there to just see the area. It probably doesn't look the same as it did in 1860!!

Go, Jersey City Peregrines!

Yea this is great stuff! He's the same age as Dad, and began nesting the same year (2007) as his sister in Elizabeth atop the county courthouse (the site where they might have a cam next year!). That 2003 season was a dramatic one too: the first clutch of eggs was destroyed by early April snowstorm, and a new 4-egg clutch was laid by month's end. All 4 hatchlings fledged, and now 2 of the 4 have gone on to multi-year nesting success! What a group! :thumbup

He's from Paulsboro, NJ on the Deware River. Chester, PA is on the other side. That's why it is even better news for Jersey.
