I hope some of our Columbus people check in real soon. The falcon FB page is asking for help. It looks like the baby dropped straight down.

Here's the vid.

Oh no! I hope the little one is OK. I will see if anyone in Columbus can check!

Columbus Facebook just posted that a few people are headed to that area to look. They will update as soon as they can.

My brother just went to the area, did not report seeing a downed peregrine. That doesn't mean that the little one is not downed, but just that it may not be in a highly visible spot.

Please tell your brother thank you. I'm not sure this chick is out of the woods yet...even though it was located. Hopefully a wildlife officer was involved..

Will do! I agree, though, that this chick may have had some issues as well. I hope there are vigilant folks in the area and that we hear good news!

Thank you to the person who rescued the baby chick this morning and safely relocated him/her. Also thank you to Karen from the Division of Wildlife who came to make sure the chick was safe. The parents and siblings have located their baby and all is well.

Good to know that Ms. Norris was there. This reassures me that the chick is in good health and was released in a safe manner/environment.

:15heartbeat: I think it's wonderful!! What issues did you all have concerns with this chick? Now if we could get similar results at Richmond ... as in knowing where the chick is or what may have happened there.

That was about the weirdest fledge I've seen. Poor baby just jumped up and went straight down. Thank goodness it was helped. Wonder where the safe place is. Couldn't they have just put it back on the ledge since the others had fledged. Well not sure who has access to and/or authority for rescuing the birds. This is our first year at a new nest here. We will learn and adapt.

I was wondering the same thing, ljames...but, maybe those windows don't open?

when I read that Karen Norris was involved, I felt better. She's the wildlife officer that took Donna's place.

Concerns? Nothing really specific. Just didn't seem quite as coordinated as the others...didn't get the same kind of lift when hop/flapping from place to place. We weren't sure of its hatch date, but guessing maybe 5/4, that would have made it 49 days at time of fledge...If a male, that's way over...and if female, somewhat over the average.

Watching the vid, I'm not sure she really meant to fledge..LOL

Hope they are all safe today!!
