They know food is coming way before I can see. Cam operator on it though.
could be out of order, can't see times. Sorry.

They are looking so good. I can't remember what we know, if anything about their birth parents. Will have to look back.

Union County

Eyases are getting ready, but they are still not close enough to the edge of the building to be able to see them from the ground. Next week, maybe. Then we can all begin our heart attacks.

:loveheart2: Jersey City- these guys are a hoot! “74” was standing in the doorway and was determined that No One was going past her. “75” antagonized her several times until he finally went to the back of the nestbox and did several of the peregrine “turn my head upside down” tricks at her...

Parent arrived with prey, right place, right time for one chick.

Good grief, I've never seen this view before. Is that the juvies up there and the nest box down at the end?

edit

You have to scroll back and see all of the action before this

Next box is to the left of that view. They are 42 stories up with a gorgeous view of Manhattan. These birds really have the good life. You may have noticed that their 'home' has white shingles and a brown, shake roof. Only the best will do. Plus, the grocery store is just below. Cleaning service is provided during the winter months.

Jersey City - Yesterday Sat, June 9th.

Yup, the 3 foster kids were definitely out and about yesterday. I didn't see them back at the box until dinner time. Here's a pic of the three from yesterday afternoon at 611pm. Still lots of fluff on these kids. Cute pantaloons, but it won't be long before they take their first flights.

Union County - Yesterday, Sat June 9th

All four accounted for yesterday afternoon. The chick on the lower left is pretty well feathered and I would expect a fledge soon from that youngster.

Yesterday 615 pm

Jersey City

Update on JC JR..( the chick that was removed and placed in another nest to be fostered)

Late last week, we returned to Sedge Island to band the young #falcons produced at one of the first peregrine falcon hacking sites in #NJ. This was also the location where we fostered "Junior" (from Jersey City) on May 21 after he was cared for by Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, Inc.. He was placed here as it only had two young who hatched less than 36 hours after Junior.

It was easy to tell who Junior was, with his small size and big attitude! :) He looked very healthy for a young male falcon who would not have survived without human intervention! Here Kathy Clark/NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife holds Junior for a quick photo after banding him for future tracking with both a federal USGS (silver) band and a bi-color state band (BE/42).

As you can see, this foster was a huge success for both the Goethals orphans and the lone eyas from Jersey City!

I was down there at noon. Saw one in the NW corner next to the building out of cam view. I couldn't see the other two because I was at the wrong angle and didn't want to pay for parking in the garage. I hope there might be a couple of people there this weekend.

Jersey City: First fledged at 3:36 pm. I was there 3 hours too soon. Cam showed way off to the northeast of the building. Several years ago I saw the male flying upside down giving draft to a first flight. Let's hope the same happens. She will come down at 7 Green or 10 Exchange.
