Union- A falcon is on the railing at nestbox level, doing a lot of looking around. Is this Cadence? Sorry for my ignorance, but do you think the intruder is a male and dad is dealing with him in the air, or is the intruder female, and Cadence is guarding her nestbox? Just now something flashed by and Cadence? took off after it....

Union On the rooftop cam, I found a falcon walking in the gutter area with another circling the building. Then the gutter falcon took off after it...Gutter falcon is back....and fluttered down to a lower level.

Cadence has been injured! An unbanded female was perched on the rail this afternoon when I was watching.

This is from the chat.

All - I got word from Kathy that after the battle, 91/BA was found and recovered injured on the ground outside of the courthouse. She is being transferred to The Raptor Trust and has injuries to her wing and leg. When Kathy gets an update then I will let you know what I hear.

At least Cadence was found on the ground and rescued. The people at The Raptor Trust are excellent, so Cadence is in the best possible place right now.

Hoping we wull have a good update on her condition.

From Betty Ann Kelly 20 minutes ago:

Betty Ann Kelly

Hello Observers: Our resident female falcon, BA/91 was rescued today after being seen limping in a parking lot across the street from the County Courthouse. We took her to the Raptor Trust (a rehab place for raptors and other birds) in Millington, NJ where she will be cared for. At first glance, it appears that she sustained injuries to a wing and also to her leg. We will keep you updated on her progress but I can tell you that despite her injuries she looked good. We now have a new and what appears to be unbanded female! Keep watching!

Also:

Betty Ann Kelly

Many thanks to our County Sheriff's Dept. employees for seeing and reporting the injured bird!

So glad the Sheriff's Department employees helped by doing this!

The latest update from Betty Ann Kelly this evening:

Hi Guys: Kathy at Raptor Trust was pleased to see how "beefy" BA/91 was. She sustained leg and wing injuries and we hope to know more tomorrow. When we captured her she was still able to hop around and do a short "flight" or two across the parking lot. It was a bit tricky as employees wanted to leave for the day so we had to delay them a bit while we worked to catch her. To do that, two of us distracted her while we threw a blanket over her and picked her up and placed her in a box for transport. We were very fortunate that a county employee who was very familiar with the falcon cam site knew to call us.

If there had not been a webcam, with people following the birds closely online, this could have been so much worse . . .

Cams are working for me but nobody around and it's snowing there so I imagine everyone is tucked away somewhere.

Bev, earlier today only the roof cam was working, and then the other two cams went down as well.

All three cams are now working. Snowing heavily there, no sign of any birds.

I just found a short update from Betty Ann Kelly, posted minutes ago:

The vet at Raptor Trust will be in tomorrow and xrays will be taken to see the extent of BA/91's injuries. For now, she is standing upright and being given fluids and kept warm. More info on Friday.

I am very glad Cadence is not outside in this weather.
