we now have 7 eggs here. so 3 from second clutch

young male is bringing in food . He is doing so well. he is learning.

He's bringing in food for her, I'm just not sure how often. I think he's stashing it across the way and she can see it & starts yelling for him. He brought her some dinner last night in the 8pm hour and she mantled it and yelled at him. I say yell because that's what she did.

If you want to see back over the last 24 hours, you can click on the thing that looks like a piece of film. There are 1 hour segments. You can move through he hour pretty quickly.

He's very interested in what she's doing in the box. He has visited the eggs, but has not started any incubation. He will scratch in the gravel outside the box. He was there at the 2pm hour yesterday on the ledge, while she was out, and then during the 3pm hour after she returned. He kept looking back at her while she was incubating.

I can't watch all the time, so I just check hourly recordings and fast forward every few minutes to see what's going on. If he makes a real quick visit (less than a minute or two), I probably miss it.

I like when they have the cam pulled back a bit so we can see the box and the ledge. I think she's sticking 3 eggs in the 2nd clutch. Hopefully they will get a hatch.

ETA: I think he was just in, but I don't think has food. I can't see him, but heard him & she is yelling/calling for him. I don't speak peregrine, but I think she is trying to tell him....get me more FOOD!!!!!

i have been through this at U o f a when chase came in . as long as he brings food, she is fine. It does not matter if he brings it to her directly. sometimes our chase did but most times not.
I think we just have to wait and see. He is young. He will learn. Time is everything.

I feel like we've got some sort of disruption/disturbance occurring in SF.

The young tiercel has been in and out of the ledge several times this morning & he comes in fast, no warning, fast chupping. Val just yells.... like she's calling.

So my thoughts: Dan is back & she's calling him, or this is her alarm kaaking... more of a calling. Young one tries to bow to her & she just ignores him. She's looking across the way at the building across the street. He's preening now on the ledge & she just keeps yelling.

Maybe she's trying to tell him to get out there and clear the space.

I'm not quite sure, but she sounds like an alarm clock

This is going on at 10:55AM PT & there have been at least 2 or 3 fast entries by the male, all quick chupping, like intruder chupping.

She yells at this young tiercel every time he comes in and won't calm down until he's out.

Maybe there's some kind of activity on the building across the street bothering them. Not sure.

i just want to say, that thi s young male is doing just as I would expect.

I do believe a few days ago there was something around bothering both of them a s it was just not the male doing quick in and outs,. She did also. I am going to look to see if I have recording.

you will not always see him bring in prey, till just before hatch. ( in my experience). a lot of times it will be in stash and she will have to go for it. He is getting more and more staying power.

I think sometimes , we do too many comparisons to previous falcons , forgetting that first this is a yearling. Dan was seasoned , so to speak. as long as food is provided at this point , that is all that is needed. And she can be off eggs for a bit.

We are learning a lot this year.
