SJ Group reporting change-up in pair as of 12/23. Grace is no longer the resident female. She has been identified by bands at the Sunnyvale water tower. New female is unbanded. Unsure if this is the tiercel who arrived with Grace or a different one.

:shockedsanta: Thanks mwplay. Maybe I will wait to post names of the falcons until just before nesting time. (I don't know if you have heard, but Hope seems to be gone from the Cathedral. The male may or may not be Terzo.) :1val:

as of jan2 at 2pm a banded female was on nest ledge by box there by Paula. She was fairly positive it was Grace. they are trying to get as many people watching as possible. at this time of year, things can turn on a dime.

from ground reports and Paula, they are saying this is Grace. they are closely observing to see if it is same tiercel. but as loza showed, both were present yesterday.
I hope Clara and Fernando are safe and well. :7val:

I'm just in a state that I cannot accept another female falcon here . It would always make me unhappy to watch. Even though I did not agree with their 'let nature take it's course' here, I would still take a peek at Clara ever now and then. Losing her changes everything. She was the first falcon I ever knew. I wish the best for the nest, considering.

I understand how you feel ljames. I also have watched Clara for years. I monitored when Fernando first took over. That was sad also.

but I will tell you ;that if I quit watching every nest when a new falcon took over, I would not be watching anymore. You learn to love them as they all have their ways. I know my Radisson may not come back this year fro migration. And if she does, she may get challenged as she is getting on in age, I have lost tow of favorite males and MIss Edmonton over the years, but I grow to appreciate the new ones.
just like at deMOrtel, some cannot watch anymore, but th e dynamics of the new ones make you love them also. :7val:

Hang in there, they will grow on you. And they may have a new camera fo r next year. They just could not get it installed in time for this year.

nice to see you. :holwave:
