I don't blame these guys for not wanting to fly. It's so humid out. I was going to pull weeds but with the humidity and gnats I changed my mind. Any update on yellow. I guess he's still on the roof?

Tuned in earlier about 7 and three were there. Haven't been watching. Was watching 2 baby chickadees fledge from the birdhouse. Still one in there. We weren't sure how many there were. They are so cute. Almost as big as the parents which we know chickadees are small any way. Now we're waiting to see the baby bluebirds.

1 hour later and the same two are visible. One by stick is flapping like crazy. May end up fledging or falling. LOL Barely see the one around the column.

Check the DEP website for some updates. It was good to see Yellow return to the ledge this morning. Pretty sure it's White not quite out on the stick, and not sure which is over at the column. It's not possible to see the small ledge on the other side of the column from the cam view. You can see the building where Red landed last night. It's on the lower left corner of the screen that shows the scrape. Will be going back down after a while. Two of us came home to get some much needed sleep while others are watching.

5/31/2018 :: Accidental fledge
Last night at around 7:30 pm, Red was moving back and forth along the ledge winging when a gust of wind caught her and blew her off the ledge. Red managed to land near the top of the Market St. apartments. This fledging was accidental and it appears that her flight feathers are not quite ready for sustained flight.

Therefore, the volunteers and staff, as part of Falcon Watch and Rescue, are watching her at this critical moment. Ideally she comes down and we can rescue the bird. If this occurs we will try to return Red to the Rachel Carson State Office Building.

The other three young falcons are on the 15th floor ledge. Yellow, the male that was rescued Tuesday morning, flew/glided back down to the ledge and has rejoined the other young falcons. Falcon Watch and Rescue will continue to monitor both the apartment building and the ledge.

Glad it's not real windy today. Just watched the one on the stick go around the column and I thought for sure she was going to go.

from DEP wire

5/31/2018 :: An Eventful Day!
Last night one of the young falcons, a female banded "Red" was blown off the ledge of the 15th Floor of the Rachel Carson State Office Building, eventually landing on a window sill near the top of the Market Street Apartments, where she spent the night. As the morning came she was still there. Then, mid-morning, Red attempted to return to the ledge. Though Red did not succeed in reaching the ledge, she regained herself and flew away from Market St. and landed on the top of the Binai Birith apartment building. Red remained there for most of the day. At 3:30 pm, Red took off flying towards Market St., landing on the top of Harrisburg University. Staying there only briefly, Red than again took flight and successfully landed back on the ledge. An exciting day!

should have 4 on ledge now
