Belmont...I never posted this from Monday morning...its a shame about the eggs, but maybe a blessing. Can you imagine how hot it would have been for those babies?

July 1 - posted by redwing grain on RRP ........

I found the one in the street today. So we put it back on the roof.
We saw it did get back in the nest box.
But now it has 2 again in box.
Will keep our eyes out on the ground level!

RE: Syracuse~posted 2 hrs ago on their FB page:

Barb took her first true flight from the State Tower Building's 21st floor this morning at about 6AM. Sue Wrisley and I were on watch. She was perched on the outer perch in front of the nest box, exercising her wings. Just before 6, Pigott flew from somewhere to the southwest, around the north side of the STB at nest box level. Barb got excited, expecting breakfast. But Pigott was carrying nothing. She flew directly to St. Paul's Cathedral and landed on the cross. Still screaming for breakfast, Barb leaped off the perch and began flying towards Pigott. Sue and I were blown away. Was that really Barb. No doubt about it. She was flying. And flying beautifully. She reached Pigott's perch and Pigott took off with Barb in chase mode. They flew a circle towards the east and then back west, gaining altitude as they disappeared behind the STB. But only Pigott emerged again from the west side and flew to the nest box perch. Where was Barb? Now began the search. I went one way and Sue the other, circling the STB on the ground from the east and west. We couldn't locate her. We met at the Key Bank parking lot where Sue then waited while I went looking on the west side. I ran into Tom MacKay and we searched high and low. Finally Sue called to say she'd found her on a 16th floor window ledge on the south side of the STB.
Barb stayed there all morning with Sue keeping watch. Both Pigott and Dad tried to get her to leave. Finally around 2:30, she flew again towards Hanover Square, landing on a ledge of the M&T Bank. She was there with Pigott perched above her when I left around 4:30 just ahead of the storms.
I didn't get back down after the storm, but will check her status in the morning. So far she's a successful fledge, becoming a juvenile in one day.

Some great pics of Pigot and Barb from 6/30

55 Water Street updates:

-27-14 Viper 55 Vipes Out (posted on June 30, 2014)
Stolen? Rescued? Adopted? 55 Water St. security cameras recorded a man on the Elevated Acre escalator carrying a covered falcony-shaped package early Friday afternoon. Less than an hour later Viper 55 was turned into a wildlife rescue in Manhattan, examined, and ready to return to 55 Water St. Barbara Saunders of the NYS DEC released him at a setback near but not at the nest. The risk is high of frightening any remaining fledglings by opening the nest box access panels. Adele should hear Viper 55’s loud calling for food.
===================================================================
7-1-14 Iceman 55 & Goose 55 in No-Fly Zone (posted on July 01, 2014)
Two more fledglings visited raptor rescues after concerned neighbors alerted authorities to falcons on the ground. Iceman 55 found on Saturday 6-28-14 and Goose 55 found at One New York Plaza on Monday 6-30-14, were returned unhurt and healthy to 55 Water St. Chris Nadareski (NYC DEP) re-banded Goose 55 after examination (size and toe length) and deciding it is possible he (Goose 55 male 18/BA) might be she (Goose 55 female 17/BC). Barbara Saunders (NYS DEC) has been kept busy shuttling the falcons from re-hab centers, back to the building, and releasing them safely.

HE might be a SHE! LOL! Yeah I know it happens.

In Virginia it happened in 2010
Camellia, an eaglet was banded and named as a she and turned out to be a he.
He is tracked by transmitter. *sniff* memories of NBG cam.

Also Fargo falcons male name Annie. LOL! Again!
So Annie and Goldie are mates and produced 3 babies this year!
