Both GSB and the Australia falcons had eggs where the chick grew, pecked partly out, but never fully hatched. Oz mom actually fed the chick sitting stuck in its shell. I thout that happened in 2019 Baltimore Chesapeak but cant be sure.

So I spose that may have happened here. Pecked a hole but never made it out.

Not sure that was even a hole. plus, I've seen the eggs twice since then and nothing showing...of course, ya only get 1 side to see.

I'll still keep checking.

I'm sorry girls. I SAW the eggs this morning.
I didnt type that - I should have.
I saw the tufts sky posted yesterday.
I know why I thot I saw 2 holes 2 weeks ago -
The cam or my computer show a dark spot, then its gone, then reappears.

Any of you tell if this is last years female?

3 pm I saw an exchange and took a blown up snap of the eggs
These 2 were very sweet to each other, as if sharing sadness
OK I am humanizing, but birds DO have emotions for even their eggs,
whether we want to call it love or not

:sigh

May 1
MayDay :spring1:
LAW DAY :usa

May 10 is Mothers Day, all churches open

But I am afraid our falcon will not be a mother this year. :egg10:

But the sun will shine, the grass is green
the flowers bloom
and all is well

:3snowflake:

I check on these guys almost every day....hoping they have given up...but, they haven't. If anybody from Mill Creek reads this, could you consider a foster? New Jersey DNR fostered in a chick to the Palmyra Cove nest today...none of their 5 eggs hatched. Mom is so happy!!

From Mill creek posted on 5/8

Update from KDFWR biologists: The normal incubation period for peregrine falcons has passed and we no longer expect the eggs in this nest to hatch. We aren’t sure why the eggs didn’t hatch, but it is not uncommon for nests to fail the first year after an adult is replaced. (In this case, the adult male is new this year). We’ll look forward to next year and hope for better luck then!
