Today, thanks to Véronique Létourneau's report, we rescued a distressed peregrine falcon who was located on Maisonneuve Street not far from Berri. The hawk was initially trapped in the scaffolds of a place under construction but on the arrival of Christophe Meyer it was rather in the snow in the impossibility of flying away. We were able to identify it: it is Polly, born at UdeM in 2009. Fortunately, the capture was done without problems and its transportation was quick to the birds of prey clinic of Ste-Hyacinthe. The news is good a priori, because it has a very good state of flesh and its crop was full. She will remain under observation for a few days to check if she has suffered from frostbite. Polly also has a condition in the right paw following an injury that occurred shortly after her first flight. Over time it lost fingers on this leg as you can see in the pictures. It was the first time that she had been manipulated and the cursory examination notes a fractured femur, a real force of nature to have survived during all these years, and it even reproduced. The x-rays will say more, more news will follow in the coming days.
A big thank you once again to the Quebec Union for the Rehabilitation of Birds of Prey - UQROP - UQROP for the extraordinary work done with our friends the birds of prey. The tax season is approaching, donations made to this organization can be added to your deductions ... think about it
