Actually goes out and comes back in several times when food arrives.

Not sure how long they have been leaving the box. Haven't checked the nest in a couple of days.

U of A
hi ljames. glad you have been watching. Peter and I have been going back and forth between Bell and U of A. Lisa has been gong to U of A also.
fledge watch starts officials MOnday. but as you can tell these young ones are not ready.
but our Miss p24 went onto wrung outs die yesterday. it was not long before she went onto netting, which when food came in, she could get up to box. Peter and watched her on the netting. she went from one place to another . and was fed on circular part of netting , by chase. the she went to sleep, unless food came to box

July16
this morning P24 did no t come to box when food was brought in . We believe she is on roof below. We cannot see there but have to watch adults. We cannot check as we risk spooking chick in box. She cannot hop onto ledge yet, so we have to keep positive. If she is o.k. all sorts of room to flap and get ready for big day.

this year is not an easy one.

where we think she is today. this ledge wraps right around building so she can go all way around except to far south side. but I think parents will try and keep her around th e front. We think she is where arrow point , right now , judging from adults.
now we need to see them tak e food there.

Image

Lisa has been there . Peter and I will do around 6pm after Bell stint. we turned last few days into mini watch to keep track of her

Thanks for the info bev. I had no idea that she was that far away from the box. I hope that she is safe. Meanwhile, back at the nest.

This is a different feeding.

Plus they are all out of order, I don't know what I did wrong. I pray they will be reunited soon.

U o f a

thanks ljames

between a few of us we covered mos t of yesterday. Peter and I left about 8pm.

We do believe we have lost P24. No sign of food going to ledge. I pray for a miracle but if she fell from netting to ledge during night, she may have hit something on way down. We have no way of knowing. she could have got stuck in back on way down. We cannot go up there to even look as we may spook chick in box. My heart aches.
this is such a poo year. I will try and post a few photos later. I ma tired

Bell

I will post later today for sure some photos from ground

We are excited to say we have 2 kids flying, out of 3 . :10sum: :10sum: :10sum: one was found deceased after day 1 out, but Peter and I have been going down as much as possible and knew there were possibly 2 but could never get them together. We saw 2 in box on cam on July13 , but yesterday we had 2 adults an d 2 kids in view.

I pray they can stay high and stay away from the glass jungle. I never understand the reasoning behind these glass jungles.

so 1 is 53 days old an d1 is 53 or 52 days old . on e had been fledged 14 days an d the other 14 or 13. We do not know if deceased fledged on july3 or 4.

here are photos. they are very high up and I do not have a powerful lens. we had all 4 in view at same time. (I practically had to stand on my head to get these.) :ohyes:

Oh my gosh, I so hope that P24 has not been lost. I was so pleased that she was going in and out of the box as she pleased. I couldn't get the cam when I checked, so I hope that's not an additional sign of bad news.

U of A cam is off air at moment. We have been emailing them for it to get on line. This has been an ongoing problem with ACA. They never watch and so never know when off line. I could go on, but too frustrated . Have been for a few years,

We need this cam right now . Have very few to monitor from ground, so cam becomes a necessity.

We have not seen prey go onto ledge, so I do believe she is gone. Hope P34 starts flapping more and has success.

The other chick must miss her sibling. Poor dear. I was trying to remember if it was this nest or an entirely different nest where one chick fell into an area where it couldn't get out of and nobody knew until it was found dead. Mr White?? So many nests, so many tragedies, but some stay with you more than others. Do you remember if it was here?

Just love your Bell pics, Bev...and such great news about the kids..

I've been out of cam touch for a few days and decided to make my sweep of the cams...what the heck has happened to chick #2??!!! I see the cam has been off...so, I guess there is no answer for that. need to go find my old pictures to see what's under the box...and pray she is down there.

This was about 25 min ago...

Dad brought in a feed...of course it was snatched immediately

Image

I'm not sure how significant this was, but he was quite interested in something below.

Image

Image

Then went back to a rather long beak feed. As best as I could tell, leftovers are still in the box. The cam DVR and/or my internet are not cooperating for me

When I first started watch , years ago, we had a white band male , that we knew had not flown off ledge. We saw it getting fed there , but never saw it fly off. We could not go up and check . At seasons end Gord went up and found it deceased. So I do not know if this is what you are remembering, or a different nest

One chick has perished, somewhere out of box. It could be behind white structure, or somewhere near it, on ledge. We will not know till season end. I do know Radisson has appeared confused with something there. Maybe she cannot see it, or can and cannot get to it, A very tough year here in Alberta.

P34 just went out on netting. Still so much fluff. Hopefully things go well for it. We have empty shifts and with the heat, we can only do 4 hours tops

Thanks bev. for the information regarding the white banded chick. It was a long time ago, but it hit me pretty hard. Well, all chick deaths do that. And now we have another loss, how sad seeing her get out of and back into the nest so pleased with herself. I sure hope that the other one stays safe. I wish that they would pull the camera back some. I'm so sorry for you and the other watchers
