Don't get to actually watch this cam live but I do scroll back and watch segments that I find interesting. I avoid watching new born chicks as I have seen too many heartbreaking events. But Dad is getting more useful with the chicks and Mom is getting better at feeding the chicks. I am definitely hopeful here. They are all precious. :loveheart2: :loveheart:

june24

this young red band female had a rough start with 4 chicks hatched out in 23 hours but what a pro now. she is funny to watch

some thought she was doing things herself and male doin g nothing. Male brings in about 95 % of prey , right now. He is a great little male. You have to be quick or just scroll back a bit further if not watching directly, ad he brings to front and she qu8ickly grabs and leaves, and then come s back in with prey.

sometimes , like this morning he brings more prey while she is feeding.
If you have been watching you would have seen she has weathered a few days of brutal wind and rain, as we all have , here in Alberta.
I hope all continues to go well here. fledging is a concern with a new young female, but>>>>>

I've been watching this site. She is a very protective mom! Good to hear about the dad's support with the prey.

There is something really strange with the lighting. I think you will see it is real bright with kind of a bluish tinge...... Hmmmmm The babies really shot up since SGB's post

I have been keeping an eye on them from the beginning, just don't get time to post my pictures, usually. The male is very useful, (hunting) but would usually just sit on the rail and look at them, or sometimes standing in the box with them until mom brought the prey back to feed them, and she was terrible with the feeding. But I am more at ease now, clearly, they have learned a lot since the start. :spingirl:

we believe rain go tin cam.
I have let them know and there may be nothing they can do,

will post pictures when I can but there was a tandem feed yesterday.

you have to be quick, male brings food to left or right and she intercepts quick. sometimes when is off nest and does the grab.
She has knocked them both off a few times lol

A soaking wet Mom finally goes off to get breakfast. Must have been hard, took her quite some time to return. The chicks were clearly hungry, they were all over her. Then Dad comes with a second prey and starts feeding too.

I saw Dad feeding the chicks today too, but didn't have much and the last thing I saw was one chick with a leg and foot, and possibly some wing hanging out of it's mouth, Sorry the pics are on a different computer. but later I saw two other feedings and all were satisfied .

These are now great parents.
