End of a feed

She reminded me a bit of Durand with Zoom a few years back. Not quite sure what to do. She is learning and I bet she will be a fantastic mom.

She's been fidgety for a few minutes or so. I think she would like a break. But also the chicks are moving some under her so that could be it too........

The cam stopped..or my internet stopped, so I don't know how the feed ended..earlier today..

well day stated off slow but more feeds later on. She seems to be doing a good job. All mouths seem to get fed

Last feed I found on the DVR. I think it went well. Everybody ate, including mom. The one in the back probably got less than the other 2..but, it was a tad distracted at the start...lol

Dad came back in after the feed. He started picking at the old prey still in the box. I thought he might try a feed, but no.

Just as he was trying to gather all the kids together, Mom returned. I'm not sure he wanted to leave.

it has been a long 4 days of watching here.

today - 2 chicks are 7days old;and one is 6 days old

On Thursday there was some sort of disturbance aorund box area. We feel male was out on defensive as he brought no food in and it was very hot. Female could not leave chicks for long periods of time as they were too young .( 4 and 3 days OLd ) so they only had 3 feeds of leftovers.

this is a very goo d male so we knew something was up. I had appointments so I could not drive out there. he usaully brings food to box or at least babysits , when she goes out, but after first thing in morning he was not around.

Peter and I have seen this a few times before and driven out there and sure enough, he was defending. We have an idea of what was happening but ????

Friday was very wet, windy and blowing and so once again food was scarce. there were 4 feeds but not much and we were afraid we were going to lose a chicks or two. we were on alert

But yesterday, the threat was gone and things started to turn the corner slowly . It was still wet but the female brought in a duck and then male was came in with fresh prey. I think he sensed , the chicks were in trouble ,so they were team feeding. the first 2 feeds of the day, were catch up feeds. one chick was not responding well first feed but started picking up second feed

the male team fed twice and was then was there to baby sit and sat on the rail a lot., while female was in box so we had 6 good feeds yesterday

Today, we also had 6 feeds. the male brought to rail twice.

So we are guarded as we head into the week , . we cannot have anymore disturbances at nest for awhile

Thank you for this information. I will keep watching as much as I can............ Actually I saw something of what you pointed out yesterday. Male was in the box and female came in and it was quite evident she wanted him out. There was no food at that point. The babies seemed hungry to me.

we think we still have some things going on here. yesterday was o.k. but today. it is like hitting your head against the wall. you get nowhere

so we are still on watch here. one chick I noticed is scratching so will keep an eye on that

things still are not right here. everything was fine Sat, sun and most o f Monday, now male was in early Tuesday and Early Wed. an d no sign rest o f day. so Peter and I will drive out there tomorrow and see i fwe can figure out what is up.

this is an excellent male so something is keeping him away. We are so pleased with the femlae here. Although we worry at times, the kids went to bed stuffed
