Wow indeed!!! Although it looks a little small . . . :hmmmm
It is possible however, quite a few migrating Osprey are spotted in that area every year. This nest box is near the nature reserve "Oostvaardersplassen" the same area where a pair of White tailed Eagles is nesting since 2006.

Do you think that could be the eagle DEF and not an Osprey I forgot all about them I saw the white on the head and just thought of a Osprey :teehee:

DEF will know much more than me but the chest colouring and pattern looks very Osprey-like to me. I believe that white-tailed eagles are browner although the RSPB web site says that older birds can be very pale, almost white on their head and neck...

Thanks KF  . I'm very much alive and kicking but was submerged by work in the nesting season so could only read bits :girlsad3: . I know it's OT but was lucky enough to see 3 golden eagles in the mountains near Bergamo in northern Italy 10 days ago, catching photos of one in flight (but the pics are very poor).

Regarding Flevo: It probably is a Northern Goshawk. Such a bird has been seen there before. The size fits. Certainly not an WT Eagle

It's so nice to see Francesco the kestrel still hanging around the nest box. He's really cute!

P.S. As for the mystery bird spotted earlier, I don't have a clue.

There was a peregrine falcon spotted here a few times during the summer and we were all hoping that he would stay. But the "torenvalken" or kestrels are also nice!!!!!
