Wow Kitten, such lovely pictures of mom and dad kestrel at the Pawnee nest! And it looks as though they planned on spending the night together in the nest with their newly hatched chicks. How sweet!

I looked thru all the pictures and I have only seen 5 eggs and 5 chicks at Ne. I went all the way back to the first egg and maybe I'm wrong but I swear thats all I saw, but I'm so tired right now I can't see straight anyway :suncon:

Thanks for questioning the number of chicks in the Nebraska nest, Beth. And thanks for checking back, Kitten.

:suncrazy: I too checked back and found that it was only 5 eggs laid and 5 chicks hatched at Nebraska. (I've corrected the nesting calendar to get the numbers and dates right.)

P.S. Has anyone seen 5 chicks at the Pawnee nest? (Every time I go there to check the daily pix, my computer freezes up for some reason.)

OMG - Those Nebraska kestrels are so cute . . . and so big and grown up! Thanks for the pictures, SGB.

KF - Thanks for the news of a hatch (and the link to the live cam) for the New York kestrels! I managed to catch a picture there this morning, and it looks as if there are 3 hatches now!

Nebraska Kestrels: What a difference a day makes!

Early last evening, there were 5 in the nest.

But early this morning, only one is left (and it looks as if this last one will fledge sometime today).

KF - Great capture of the kestrel in the nest. It sure beats seeing an empty nest!
