Hilton Head could have ospreys returning any time now...last season January 15

I like to get a pic of the nest now so if sticks are added, we know something's up, even if we miss the first return

Kitten, I could be wrong, but judging from the very short tails, light color legs and silver stripes on the wing feathers (near their tails) I believe these are Black Vultures. Nice pics.

20 January 2010 webcam photo and comments ...

Just a few minutes ago we had our first osprey on the nest in January. We're unable to identify the osprey at this time,
due to the angle of the head. We have to check against past year photos to make a match.

We'll add to this post as activity increases.

The clock is running on the screen but the picture doesn't seem to be moving and it's light out. :gaah: I'm confused.

Beth, very nice pics :thumbup :thumbup

My thoughts, for what they're worth  I posted this on the HH blog.

"The osprey on the nest today looks like a first year bird. It appears to have white tips on it's feathers. It may be a juvenile that didn't migrate by the book. Very interesting. Can't wait to see more."
