The second chick didn't survive, it's dead on the nest :cryinggirl: The third egg hasn't hatched.

Hi Jazzel...didn't check in with this nest for a few days. Do you know what happened?
At least there is one chick that is thriving, but it would have been better if there were 2...

Shshen, C2 hatched on 5/28. C2 was alive on 5/29. I checked the nest early on 5/30, to see if the third egg had hatched. The adults were both on the nest and appeared to be feeding the nestlings. One adult was in front of the cam, all I could see was the egg, intact, and one nestling. I assumed both nestlings were being fed, one just blocked.

I was checking forum updates 5/30 late evening, a member of the Birds of a Feather forum posted a chick was dead on the nest, no pic, and to dark to recheck the nest. I checked the cam early morning 5/31 (my pic), C2 was in fact dead on the nest, the third egg intact.

C2 survived less than 48 hours. This was likely a natural loss, nature, I say likely because we need to watch patterns. Remember DDT!!

Truly tragic the nestling on the MNSA topic...check it out...so sad.
