A female on the nest this morning with a fish. The male was mantling, he didn't want her bothered. There must be another osprey in the area. This explains the behavior on Friday. Now if they would just get going on finishing the nest :smile:

Does anyone know why the cam is always zoomed in? Very hard to observe the nest. Great for eggs hatching and nestlings.....But, I don't see the point at this stage :-?

I wish I had your patience...I try...but don't...

I've been trying...as I tend to...figure out what's going on and why, on this nest. I gave up!!
I posted a comment on HH blog today...posting comments on blogs is something I don't often do...

I posted a comment on the HH blog last week, to correct misinformation posted by the moderator re: when to expect eggs. I posted today, because..they say the zoomed view isn't zoomed. I know, and anyone that's followed this nest knows...not true.

This is my post on the HH blog....if you don't have time to go back to look...

Historically (2008,2009, 2010), this nest has had intruder/conflict issues, 2011 seems no different. First eggs were laid, 2008 - 3/14, 2009 - 3/7, 2010 - no eggs. 2009 was the only year the nest produced and fledged young. If this pair resolve the apparent conflict issues, and have eggs, the male has plenty of time to build up the nest during incubation. Males, not distracted by territory issues, can build a nest in just a couple of weeks. It's difficult to predict when eggs may be expected, when there's very little documentation on mating. At this stage in nesting, the cam view should include as much of the platform as possible….I know from past years observing the nest, it is possible to show more of the platform.
