PLOUGHBOY, a great video :thumbup I know that took a lot of patience and editing. I can't cope with the people moving cam, plus the 'timed out' :gaaaaah:

We have 2 hatches now. I'm thinking it was probably yesterday but not sure.

To confirm ... #2 did hatch on the 30th ... as of yesterday, #3 has not hatched yet but I'm trying to get a peek now.

And Jazzel .... they took the controls off for the cam. The only thing you can do now is zoom in and out on the nest.

Not really looking very good. A hard cam to document, with time outs, but I try. I asked Barb Walker about the issues on the nest.

Barb, is there a fish shortage in your area?  As you must know C2 was dead in the nest 4/15 morning.  C1 doesn’t seem to be getting much at feedings, the female is eating, as is typical in nest reduction situations.

Just looking for fish supply information, and the cause of a shortage.

Barb's reply:
I have some concerns about that as well.  We have also lost several male adults in the last month. Plus that scissor beak one we had.  Lots of irregularities.

Barb

jazzel, Barb has been documenting her nests on osprey watch, but if you hear anymore from her on these issues, let me know. Florida Fish and Wildlife is also working with CCB on tracking on a larger scale.

I asked Bryan Watts (CCB director). It is a defect caused by contaminants. Like Buddy from NBG, only that was avian pox.

I just got my computer back from repair and running. I have these 3 emails from Barb Walker, first 2 yesterday and the last this morning. If anyone sees the male on the nest please post.

EMAILS FROM BARB

An adult osprey has been picked up about 1500 feet from the cam nest, two other nests 1500 feet or so as well. It doesn’t look good. Foaming at the mouth, wing may be broken. Hopefully the cam group can keep an eye out at the Dunedin nest for both parents. The osprey which was found has been down since mid morning.

The osprey that was picked up today was a male and he did not make it.

So far we think we had both adults at the cam nest. Also at the nest right next to the cam nest. So many nests in this area it is difficult to tell what happened exactly. I think a power line may have been involved.

Kitten, thanks for the help today.

Two adults were just on the nest...male delivered a fish, nestling being fed.

I called Barb to let her know....now she has to check all the other nests in the area...and they don't have cams.

So sad two ospreys dead at the nest site this week :egg10:

The foaming may have been from pain/and dehydration.

Today's female was electrocuted.
