The adults were on the nest 4/2 last season, or earlier, hard cam.

I have bad feelings about this nest. 2010 and 2011 the nest failed early. I hope this isn't a Great-horned Owl issue. Not only were the chicks lost, but last season the adults "abandon" the nest (from the cam site report), this was just a couple of days after the chicks were lost. That would be unusual behavior for Ospreys, they stay to defend the nest, even if it failed.

From Kittens 2011 posts, I hope one or both adults weren't killed. Time will tell :nailbite:

FROM THE CAM SITE NESTING NOTES

2012 Osprey Nesting Notes

4/24/2012- Both Osprey are sporadically seen on nest, visits are much less frequent than before egg was laid.

4/21/2012- One bird returns to nest and egg in morning, but no incubation ensues. Osprey is on and off nest throughout day, while off nest in afternoon, a ring billed gull is observed with egg in mouth.

4/20/2012- One egg laid. One bird seen at nest throughout day but no incubation occurred. Osprey left nest at night.

4/16/2012- Both Osprey very active on platform, bringing in nesting material and fish

4/4/2012 - Two osprey observed at nest.

4/2/2012 - First osprey arrives at nest just before 7:00 AM

3/11/2012 - OspreyCam deployed for 2012 season; osprey are expected to arrive within the next few weeks.

I hope the Great-horned Owl isn't looking for a place to nest :nailbite:

They start nesting in January.

The Great Blue Heron is not a threat to Ospreys :smile:
