Thanks for posting Jazzel! I was trying to decide if the one I was watching was male or female.

If this is the male ... he was defending his nest this morning...in my post above there doesn't appear to be a fish ... I only looked away from the cams for a few seconds and all of a sudden there was a fish ... :?: I couldn't get a real good look at the chest area though.

Patti, thanks for clarifying  I can see the fish in all 3 pics in your 12/7 post.

I'll repeat, hard to compare migratory and non-migratory behavior.

Migratory males displaying will bring fish to the nest usually just for show....then off displaying the fish. In fact they will display with nesting material if they don't have time to fish.

I watched and recorded the nest 12/8 am and observed the same defensive behavior you posted, looked like a male but I haven't had time to review the recordings. I only had an hour before work this morning to check the nest, no Osprey.

I'll watch tomorrow....but only time will tell :suchdrama:

She wasn't playing hard to get, she was just deciding. This is her nest.

The Osprey on this nest, since the cam went online, is a female. I accept cam site observations and reports until other observations conflict, see all posts, Beth's pics and yours :ohyes: The cam site said the male was on the nest, waiting for the female, I now believe the Osprey on the nest was the female, breast marks and behavior

I had Christmas bird counts all weekend so no cam time, but, I had a friend record this nest 12/16 morning..no time to review yet..

I recored today (12/17 ). Male and female on the nest...looks good...female relaxed..male polite :teehee: and new nesting material!

I'll post a video when I figure out the NEW YouTube

Thanks Jazzel!! So perhaps the resident female made it back ... and not the male.

Beth, yes thanks :coolphoto:

The nest is doing very well, they have intruder issues, not unusual for the area, large Osprey population. The pair are doing a good job adding material to the nest and defending. Hoping the intruder issues won't delay eggs.

Great to see fish on the nest, can't ID the fish, but looks like Nemo :teehee: The little black bird :holbugeye: ...brave, desperate or maybe knows Ospreys, they come to the nest when the Ospreys are off but I've never seen a face to face...very interesting.

I do hope the site gets the cam adjusted, less than 1/2 the nest isn't good now, and after hatch would be very bad.
