Rest in Peace "Tiny" ...
She was late laying the eggs this year Tine because of the food supply.
Hope #3 will be ok.

Tawny Owls
Klaara & Klaus are realy struggling for food :-(
Every day they drop food a few times but not enough and those little ones can not swallow it as a whole.
The few times Klaara is in, she makes the little bits and feeds them.
Did see the biggest one trying to swallow things but did not succeed.
This is a bird as prey and the littlest used it to comfort, waiting for mom to make it to bits

Image
Today color came back
The smallest always seeks shelter under sibblings

Image
And just now , I think the smallest has passed :sosad2
Not moving while sibblings touching it

(1.30 am)

Wish and hope the other 2 will survive :?

Good news about the Tawny owl :spingirl:
The eldest "Biggie" survived and is at the point to leave the nest.
Not in a hurry at all though
Going sitting in the doorway but comming back also till now.
Klaara is calling outside and trying to tempt it with food.
This is what to see....up...sitting...down again

I haven't had time to follow the Tawny's this year...so, I'm just now catching up with them...so very sad...I don't understand, though, why the parents expected them to break up the prey themselves? Its obvious from all the pics, that they were not old enough to tear up the prey...I just don't get it...but maybe I would understand more if I had been watching from the start...I'm kind of glad I didn't...

But "Biggie" looks great in the last pic!!!

The nestlings at the Little Owl (refresh) webcam nest in Uden (actually, Mariaheide), Netherlands were ringed recently:

(Choose "Logboek 2010" from the menu). Some beautiful close up shots there.

You beat me to it KF!!!

This cam has just been opened. Like many of our other new sites, the cam is only operative from 9.00 am-6.30 pm.
Carlo from the Italian site said that all the chicks may have hatched but they are still very young - 2 days old at the most. What luck!! :spingirl:
