Surprise, surprise--even with all that snow someone is there & it appears from the talon prints that they went into the box, too! :o

Did see those prints too :)
You know what to do than is:
Go to Shaky's archive and you can look back at all cams.
So I did see Beauty there from different angles active at that time.

Link for Shaky is:
HERE
Fun and informative looking back here.
And.. you can make thumbnailes plus movies from those archieved pictures.
Try it out and have fun.

No sign of Archer at all which is not good and no sign of that other male that was hanging around. Beauty hasn't been seen mating with anyone nor is she hanging around the nest box much. Once again...missing males... I'm just sayin... :(

Oh my! This is not good news at all! :(

Interestingly New York state had a record year for nesting pairs last year - 73 pairs. I'm wondering if the males are avoiding the cities - you know the glass towers and buildings and heading to the wild. That would explain alot of the unbanded birds we are seeing around. I wondered if perhaps when they started up restoring them in the cities, alot of them came back but now as the populations have increased they've gone back to better areas. Honestly if I was a falcon I'd rather be in the wetlands or near a park rather than a concrete jungle full of humans...just a thought.

I"m sad about Archer though, he was one of ours and this is the second one that goes to Rochester and Tybo didn't do very well there. But it's still early, maybe the weather has delayed migration of falcons somehow?!

I'm hoping it's just the awful weather that has delayed the return of some of our falcons. I'll try to be patient for a few more weeks before getting too concerned!

I think we might still have a few weeks to go for all the migrating males to come home. Gosh, its so frustrating seeing all of these females with no mates. Carly, I don't see NY falcons down here, so they might be coming your way. There always seems to be overlap between NY and Canada.

weather plays a big part on migration. Our falcons in Edmonton came back almost 2 weeks late last year. We knew it was because of the storms in the path of their migration.
So you have had a lot of rain storms and high winds and so this will delay them for sure. Do not give up. but we need to have these falcons have more males and they need to be watched at fledge time until they get their wings under them. they run into more trouble on the average that n the females(so our biologists say)

We know this through the readings of transmitters. One thing they are good for.
