There were 5 eggs, now 3 eyases and 1 egg as of this morning at 7AM. Did we have a death in the family?

I'm sorry to see that one egg did not make it, but there is so much to be thankful for at this nest. Mom & Lil Dad healthy when so many nests have seen the loss of one of the pair . . . and 3 new healthy babies.

THE ONE EGG THAT WAS REALLY LIGHT IN COLOR GOT BROKEN SOMEHOW. WE BELIEVE BY THE COLOR OF THE INSIDE OF THE EGG, IT WASN'T VIABLE ANYWAYS.

I guess there's a good chance the other egg isn't viable either?

Unless word has traveled the pigeon grape vine and they decided to go elsewhere perhaps the fewer number is because like mom and lil dad, they too have little beaks to feed ?

Wow, good shot of that yellow bird for breakfast. :o Well, breakfast is breakfast but I hate to see beautiful birds as prey. I know they often brought in really colorful prey in Australia.

And too bad about the one little egg, but I always hope for 5 eggs, in case 1 or 2 don't hatch. I'm thankful that we have 3.

A cute picture from earlier.

YES AND THEY WERE PECKING AT MOM'S BEAK TOO, THEY ARE HUNGRY AND NOW GETTING HOT AND ONE WAS PANTING. I GUESS IF THERE WAS AN INTRUDER, LIL DAD CAN'T CHASE THEM AND BRING LUNCH, UNLESS..........IT WAS SOMETHING THEY WOULD EAT FOR LUNCH, BUT USUALLY INTRUDERS AREN'T FOOD FOR THEM.

I dont think that is an Audobon oriole as the cornell site states "....A predominantly Mexican bird, the Audubon's Oriole reaches the United States only in southern Texas. It is a rather secretive oriole, living in denser vegetation than most other orioles and singing from inconspicuous perches. "
"

If not a Bmore Oriole, the meal could be a bullock's Oriole (fwiw)

I think the egg that broke was the dark one that I thought looked like it had a gaping hole in it day before yesterday. I think the light colored egg is still in the nest. Probably not viable either. Natures way. I also think the up and down temps had a lot to do with these two eggs and probably many more across the country. I know this light colored one was the second laid. In my lame attempts to keep them all straight, this is the only one I actually accomplished it on! Perhaps the first two just didn't make it due to the temps.

Lil dad will have a much easier time keeping track of three!!!

GEORGE, THE REASON I SAID AUDUBON'S ORIOLE IS BECAUSE IT HAD A TOTALLY BLACK HEAD AND WHEN I LOOKED UP BALTIMORE ORIOLE IN MY BOOK, UNDER BALTIMORE ORIOLE, IT SAID: SEE AUDUBON'S ORIOLE. DIDN'T LIST AN ACTUAL BALTIMORE ORIOLE.

I don't know about seeing Little Dad, I didn't start watching until about 9:30. But Mom sure hopped out of the box to leave. I hope everything is ok.
