So sad, but what a wonderful woman Anna must be to take such good care of her in the end.

Thank You Tine for the message from Anna on the passing of Aleta. What a compassionate person she is . Aleta was a joy to behold and I feel lucky to have shared her time on this earth. I just wish we could have known her a little longer.

Thank-you Tine for the message.

I am typing through my tears.
Anna must be a very special person, and I too am thankful that this wonderful, beautiful facon, passed on knowing love first hand.
I am glad she passed peacefully and with dignity.,

some do not understand our attachment to these wonderful raptors. but those of us that do, share a special bond.
God Bless

Late this afternoon, all three juvies were on camera, at the nest ledge. Ziva is so much larger than her brothers. She was doing a feather dance with some prey, while her brothers looked on from the ledge. She hopped up on the ledge, than on the floor never letting go of her meal. Eventually she hopped on the ledge and bumped one of the boys off. A while later someone posted that She gently beaked and nudged the other boy off the ledge. She sat alone for awhile, reminding me of the day when sweet Aleta came to sit with her after she fledged. Nice to see all three - Another day safe and looking frisky. :balloon

Thanks Vera,

Every once in awhile there is a silver lining.

It hurts when one is lost , but the joys we feel when there is success. :cloudnine:

Here is a bit of news. Ziva was picked up and sent to Penninsula Humane Society over the week-end. No details were given of how or why she ended up on the ground. Glenn S. and Glenn N. examined her and she was unharmed. Her original yellow tape was falling off and they replaced it with a red tape which makes it easier to spot. She was released on the nest ledge this morning and she flew off the ledge at 12:38 this afternoon, and was flying well. How's that for a close Call! :happysun

Thank goodness she was OK! Thanks for sharing that with us, Vera, & also that the juvies were all on the nest ledge earlier this month!

We had reports from the ground that last night :loveshow: :cloudnine: all three juvies and parents were flying about, and even a mid air food exchange. They had no trouble spotting Ziva since she is larger than parents and the boys. Glenn N. posted step by step photos of the return to the ledge. They fed her and she did' not like being fed, but swallowed it anyway, and tried to take a finger or two. They sprayed her with water before releasing her. She is an awesome looking Falcon up close!!

Just checking in to let you know that last night all three juvies were spotted. Ziva, palladin, and Ari were seen flying around the Trans-America pyramid, and seemed to be having a great time. One of the boys took aim at a pigeon and missed both times. Parents are doing a lot of mid air prey transfers. Hopeful we might have them in the area a little longer. :thumbup
