I don't get off work until 5:15. Then I have to go home to feed my critters. I probably couldn't be available until 6:30 or so.

Just heard her, and maybe him too, but don't see them. Wasn't watching cam, just listening through headphone. Oh yeah, I see somebody down there now.

Good evening All!

Finally got caught up-- all I can say is that this Thread's Motto should be:

Miss a Day- You Miss A Lot!

Remember when we used to sit patiently, watching the cam for something as action packed as Scout rolling the eggs around?

This is too much excitement for me! I'm glad people have heard/seen Spirit in the last several days. Great News!! Thanks to everyone to took the time to post the pix and video throughout the weekend.

If I lived anywhere near Columbus, I assure you I'd be out there helping to look for Spirit. Am praying she's OK. And kudos to you Rosekk17, and am glad to hear about Anna. Thanks for doing all you can do.

OMG...I can barely keep up with all that's been happening here! At least it's been good news the past two days: Yesterday with the sighting of Spirit on the ledge, and today with the sighting of a new female - possibly Victory - on the ledge with Trooper.

Thanks for all the great reporting: from the cam watchers' posts, pictures, and videos to the eye-witness reports of Rosekk and Anna from the street. And thanks also to everyone who researched and reported on band ID's and Victory's history.

And before I forget yet again, I'd like to extend belated welcomes to KeKen and tamarack. It's nice to have you both here!

I was just thinking and maybe someone has suggested this already. I try to read everything but sometimes I miss things. :buzzybee: I have been reading the thing about the signs are those for the street? Maybe they could get the building downtown to post signs on the roof access doors about the falcons and what to do if one swoops on you while they are on the roof. Just an idea. :sneakthru:

blp5729 - I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to respond earlier to your post, but I think this is an excellent idea! Getting downtown buildings (especially high-rises in the vicinity of the Rhodes Tower) to post falcon signs on roof access doors would go a long way in protecting the falcons and educating the workers/contractors who need to venture out onto the rooftops.

Wheeeew! That was some good reading!

Good job Rose and Anna. I hope that you are rewarded with a glimpse of Spirit.

Welcome Tamarack! I think I know you from CMNH. :smilesun:

And here's my bit about anatum.
Falco p. anatum is a large, forest-inhabiting race that is variable in its migratory behavior. Its range spans the continent, intergrading with tundrius to the north and limited to north-central Mexico to the south.

Good night all!

Here's something interesting about "imping" found while I was doing some reading last night.
From Donna Daniel's report archives;

Jan 07, "...........So, the next stage in her treatment is give her “new” feathers to replace the broken ones through the process of imping. The imping of feathers was developed by falconers and uses unbroken feathers from one bird to repair the feathers of another. Donor feathers are obtained from other birds that have died or live birds that have molted. Individual feathers have a unique shape and length and must be matched closely before being joined to the remaining shaft on the bird."

Feb 07, "Y/5, the Canadian female falcon that spent several winters at the Rhodes Tower, might have a role in helping Victory. Since her death in 2005, I have kept the carcass in our district freezer for possible education use in the future. Ironically, it has worked out that some of Y/5's wing feathers have been donated to be used in the imping process for Victory!"

Here's a photo of the pinned repair on Victory's wing and another of Victory showing the silver (looks lavender) leg band. Both photos 2006 from Donna Daniel's report archives.
