First time I've ever watched this cam. And how very nice to have the first :egghatch: on Mother's Day! :loveshow: I love the pic SGB of Louie gently head-butting Dori to try to get his first look at the chick  . Any my, how easy it is to tell these 2 apart...her beak is lighter, almost looks blueish. She's making a bit of noise now.

Louie was just on the scene and they were having a soft toned conversation for several minutes...think he's still wanting to get a look at the chick, but again Dori wouldn't budge...then he left. Almost right after Dori stood up (of course) and I got a glimpse of what looks like a pip on another egg.....she did quite a bit of shifting/moving around (moved the chick again too) before finally settling...still remains a tad restless though, so I think another hatch may be on the way at some point today.

Thank you 'Catbird' for those pics...I've watched off and on all day today, but not continuously and was wondering if the wee one had been feed since hatch...I can breathe a sigh of relief now :-)

I think the second egg is trying to hatch...not good news or a good view. I'm sorry. Didn't capture a picture, but she's been picking up the chick by what I think is the wing and carrying it around while it's still in the egg. Looks like maybe it got stuck. At the same time, she's not really watching what she's doing with eyas #1 and I think almost stepped on him!

Eyas 2 is moving. I think she's trying to help it out of the shell. I think it's head is stuck.

This has just been such a strange viewing year.

Okay..#2 is free... She's picking at the egg shell now.

Sigh of relief...

I just saw that there is clearly a 2nd hatch (and I missed it of course). I'm wondering if this is a young mom...is she banded/been ID'd?...because she keeps pecking at the chicks, whatever and I've not really seen that before, except in Harrisburg just recently (but they're older) but that was Mom trying to move the oldest, who sometimes strays away from the others, under her with the others because it's been so windy (and a lot colder) the past few days.

Dori is ID'd and if my memory is right it is her first time to become a mom.

I think she is a new mom. I'm not sure of her history, but I know she fought off the resident female after 2 eggs were laid.

Watching that second hatch and her literally picking up the eyas by the wing and carrying it, egg and all...it had not been fully hatched at that time, just freaked me out... She moved away from eyas#1 and the other eggs. I truly thought she was going to eat it. Sorry to say.

Mom must be stressed. Poor thing. It's almost like she doesn't know what to do.

Or better yet...maybe it's just me.

Hi Knorrie - yes, eyas#2 is okay after the hatch. It was just during it. I just happened to start viewing when she was picking up the eyas.

This is a new mom--her first clutch! Wish she'd let Louie in there to help cause he's an experienced dad!

Thanks for the comments ladies, & for the picture Knorrie!

I must say, like others did before, it is a strange season in more than one nest
I think also with so many more live streaming it let us see more than refresh.
I keep faith in those falcons though, knowing it can go wrong in many ways.

Thank you 'Catwoman' for that clarification...I could kind of tell by the way she was acting and whatnot, so she is just learning with this being her first time, with the moving of the chicks and such. Guess that kind of explains too why she hasn't allowed Louie anything more than a very wee glimpse at the first chick today. I saw them both together at one point today and they were talking softly to one another (no screaming or anything), but she barely budged an inch, and after a bit he finally left...poor guy.
