JUST GOT HOME A BIT AGO. HOW EXCITING IT WAS TO SEE OUR RED GIRL AGAIN! SHE IS STILL LARGE AS EVER, AT LEAST TWICE THE SIZE OF THE MALE. THE MALE HAS A VERY SILVER BACK, NOT DARK LIKE HERS. WE THINK WE FIGURED OUT WHY RED PICKED THE AREA. LOTS OF FIRE SIRENS LIKE HARRISBURG AND THERE IS A TRAIN THERE TOO! THE SOUNDS ARE PROBABLY SO FAMILIAR TO HER. WHEN WE LEFT, RED GIRL FINALLY WENT IN THE SCRAPE AND WE WERE HOPING SHE WOULD BE IN THERE LAYING ON THE EGGS. I SEE FROM THE PIC FROM LJAMES THAT IT IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS DOING. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL WHEN SHE FLIES AROUND. HUGE! JUST CAN'T GET OVER HOW HUGE SHE IS. SHE REALLY LIKES THE POLE ON TOP OF THE BRANDYWINE BLDG, SPENT ALOT OF TIME THERE. NOW MY PICS AREN'T REALLY CLEAR, I DON'T HAVE A REALLY GOOD CAMERA. LOTS OF CAMERA JEALOUSY GOING ON AFTER SEEING KIM'S CAMERA :-) SOMEDAY I'LL HAVE ONE OF THOSE!

I WANTED TO THANK KIM, BILL AND GREG FOR COMING DOWN AND MEETING US AND IT WAS NICE TO FINALLY MEET FAITH AND TO SEE CATBIRD AGAIN :-)

BELOW IS A PIC OF RED GIRL SITTING ON THE POLE ON TOP OF THE BUILDING AND ONE OF HER MATE ONE THE SCRAPE. ALSO TWO VIDEOS. ONE OF RED GIRL FLYING IN TO THE SCRAPE (SCREAMING ALL THE WAY  ) AND ONE OF A CANOODLE ON THE POLE. SORRY THE VIDEOS ARE SHAKEY, KINDA HARD TO HOLD THE CAMERA UP IN THE AIR AND STILL. ALSO, WE WERE ON THE 7TH FLOOR OF THE PARKING GARAGE AND THEY ARE ON THE 18TH FLOOR. BETTER THAN NOTHING I GUESS. I DO THINK JANE OR SUE WILL HAVE MUCH BETTER PHOTOS AND SUE GOT A CANOODLE VIDEO ALSO.

Great pics & videos, Reenie! I even got to hear some of the excitement! Red still sounds like a juvie. The new female at Gulf is supposed to be 2 years old, & she still sounds like a juvie, too! :clapegg:

It was great meeting everyone after all these years. Red is so beautiful, just like her mother. Alot larger than her mate. Great to have them fly over us. It was COLD! Very easy to get to the roof top. LE, it would be quite a walk from the train, but if your in good shape you could do it. Maybe someone else could answer here about this. We met Bill who was instrumental in getting the Cam set up. It was nice to finally meet Kim. A good day!!! I'll be going to Harrisburg later for sure.

Reenie, once again a great report and pictures from our day. Worth every minute to see the Happy Pair and all of our Falcon friends.

What a treat this morning to see those from Wilmington (Faith, Kim, Greg and his wife Betty, and Bill Stewart) and Harrisburg (Reenie, Jane, westwindschild) and watch the falcons. As Reenie said earlier, the falcons didn't disappoint. We got to see them mating, hear them calling to each other, see the male defeather prey by the nest box and then present it to Red Girl, and see them fly. We also got to see what they've been eating, courtesy of Greg and the feathers he found on the garage roof that was our vantage point. Faith, Jane, and Kim also brought falcon picture albums along for the rest of us to see and reminisce about. It was a wonderful morning despite the cold wind and gray sky!

What amazed us is how really, really big Red Girl is - she's about twice the size of the Wilmington male. And about the male - he's really handsome, and his markings and coloring are very striking. All in all, they were quite the lovely couple.

Sorry about this picture, but it's the best my little camera could do . . . it's Red Girl on what was her favorite perch this morning on top of the Brandywine Building.

It was great meeting everyone today and I'm so glad you got to see your girl in action!!! :)

Here are some pictures from today. The first picture isn't very good because of the lighting but check out her talons!!! She's pretty darn scary looking!!!

Canoodle time again! Seems like every hour they were at it!

Dad bringing in a snack for Red Girl. He brought her at least 3 while I was there!

Wow. Thanks for all the spectacular shots today, Kim! You are so right about those menacing-looking talons on Red Girl - she's one falcon I definitely wouldn't want to get in a fight with!

just curious, how far from the Wilmington Train station is the scrape? When time permits , I want to be able to hop aboard the R2 to wilmington from philly. Is it a long schlepp from the Amtrak station to a good vista to view from?

It's a good hike!

Wanted to see the messages on here before adding a few words. Of course it was absolutely wonderful to see Red Girl again. Once they leave Harrisburg, you never think you'll get to see them again. She is just as beautiful as her mother, that's for sure, and probably even larger. I've not had time to sift through my feeble pictures, and need to get something to eat first. I also enjoyed meeting Kim, Greg, Bill, Faith, and seeing Catbird again. I won't repeat what everyone else has already said, but needless to say we certainly enjoyed our visit. I forgot to ask if it is known where the male is from. He really is small, just like Little Dad! And Kim, you photos are so outstanding. Thank you for sharing them on here for us to see.
