FYI info~After doing the calendar tonight the eggs that hatched were Dori-the timing is perfect for
the dates laid- Thanks for the great photos and video!

Very nice pictures 'ljames' and 'Knorrie'...great to see Louie getting a turn at something finally, after he's tried so hard all day! Could that be a pip I see in another egg or is part of the prey...a bit hard to tell...looks like a pip, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I agree Beth...these are Dori's eggs that have hatched...the 2 of Tasha's are way over hatching by more than a week...will be interesting to see what the adults end up doing with them.

I see you got some on video. Good.
here's my pictures, sorry dinner was ready at the time.
But I thought that it was Louie on the eggs when Dori arrived with food. Don't know though.

Thanks for the pics, video & slideshow! I really appreciate these since I can't get the cam! Did anyone else think it was unusual for the dad to be feeding newborns? I think this is the first time I've seen this, but its probably good that Louie did it because he is experienced. :thanku

I have been gone all day and so thank-you very much for picutres and slideshow and video

I have also been reading the comments. Falcons will sometimes help an eyas , out of the shell ,if it is stuck or having some difficulty.
I am hoping to get permission to post something sent to me by one of our biologist, but he reminded me that raptors can pick young up with their beaks and carry them and not hurt them. So the chicks will be O.K.

I think we have to remember that there are 6 eggs here and Dori may just be rearranging chicks , for hatching eggs.

Wow, I missed a lot yesterday! Thanks everyone for the excellent coverage. Glad to see Louie got his fair share of time with his new babes. I'm pretty sure he's more excited than mom to get going.

I definitely saw Jetta dragging the egg around in a circle in Heidelberg right before it hatched. I wondered if she was trying to help it hatch. But I've never actually seen one moving the chick until the video.

You are right ljames.
While watching back now, see I missed the switch :redface
It is Dori feeding then and not Louie.
Wishfull thinking maybe

And seeing hotspots Dori is activly helping to open eggshell from 3th.
So different to other sightings, or did other moms do it underneath their body?
So we did not see it.
:think

Tine, this seems to be another example of new things we're learning this year! Unfortunately, not all we're learning is pleasant stuff! :o

Good thought Carly, maybe that's what happens under there that we don't see.

I am trying to remember the nest I watched the mom help out with the hatching. It may have been Manitoba, maybe Edmonton. they all run together after awhile

not for long as Dori came back shortly with prey and shooed off dad. the second shot is Louie giving us one last look ,saying "Women:

did not hear chicks while she was feeding and could not see them but she chupped a lot
