Morning all: Well we've yet another hot humid day scheduled here in Hamilton and surrounding areas today as you've seen shots of Madame X & young ones with mouths open panting. You might have noticed the weed is drying out looking like a Charlie Brown xmas tree but also the young ones have been beating on it as well as Madame X yesterday as I watched her doing some gardening.
Here's this mornings shot of the 4 young ones huddled nearest the camera waiting on the sun to arrive but also this is where Madame X is too off screen (well not really) as she'll sit on top of the camera watching. She spends a lot of time on this end of the ledge when it's dark.

Well tomorrow some relief maybe as T-storm is possible but calling for cooler temperatures here in a couple of days as rain is coming.

Banding Date -- this from Hamilton Community Peregrine Project
********************************************************************
- please note that the chicks will be banded on the morning of Tuesday, June 1. The climber will be visible on the webcam as he sends the chicks for banding and puts them back in the ledge. Judging from the birds' sizes in the image at left, it appears that he may be handling three females and one male.

From an hour or so ago. As we've been in a heat wave all week here.
I'm pretty sure what we see here is Madame X wants a break don't we all but I'm thinking it's our Madame nearest the camera and my boy Surge is doing his best sheltering some of the young from the direct sun. Madame X is darker feathered and Surge is more slate coloured but all panting in this heat. Praying for rain here. :)

I've seen both parents in the nest a lot lately with the chicks. And I can't believe how they have plowed those weeds down, plus the weather I guess. I was thinking that the weed might have provided a little shade , but we can sure see them better without it. :-)

Thanks for the nice pictures and reports.

Hi: No luck so far on the rain they're calling for a trace of rain from this evening to tomorrow evening an any is welcomed; tis comfortable this evening now as temps dropped into the 60s with a nice NE breeze giving our falcons a break. Cooler highs more normal this time of year for us and probably changed banding day to Tuesday because good chance of T-storms all of Monday.
I personally don't think a box is really needed here as it's a comfortable fit as is the ledge keeps the young ones contained until they start to explore the upper ledge an also protected from other predators crows and hawks plus we've got a lot of Turkey Vultures an other Peregrines too. From up there they have a great peripheral view but our couple even stay all year long now so not really sure how they'd adapt to a box now.
We're lucky to have a Great team of parents here in Madame X & Surge.
As for the gardening well that pesky weed I'm hoping on Tuesday they yank it out roots an all this year as this week between Madame X an our hot dry weather it seems to had the biscuit.

That is interesting that the weed is practically gone now. What a cute picture of all 4 lined up in a row. Seems that it is unseasonably warm everywhere.

Sorry, this is from yesterday. Check out the stretch on this one. I was concerned about the one in the corner, but looked later and not there.

Could I have seen correctly? Right after I posted the above picture, I thought I saw somebody on the ledge, chick with wings out a little. I have no proof, as my computer went dead before I could even capture it. I had it unplugged and it took forever to get it back on. Did I imagine it?

Edit:

 Impossible to say, right? Well I am on the lookout, and hopefully won't see a repeat performance.

Hey, thanks, Moose! Now how did that chick get up there? Thank goodness, it got back down to safety.
