Glad you finally have Spring in Heidelberg, Hans-Martin! We had Spring here last week, but now the temps have dropped back into the 50's, but I guess those ups & downs are to be expected!

It is wonderful that the folks coming to your City Hall can see the falcons in their nest. Maybe get more people interested . . . ?

We had this week the 500 000 - visit on our webpage since 2001! My "diary" there -more than 2 200 notes - is read by 540 persons.
I adopted the presentation of a Falcon- nestbox via Cam to public from Rhodes Tower Foyer, Columbus, Ohio (Donna D., -so a female Heidelberg fledgling from 2001 got the name DONNA and is still on her wings).
Yes, many visitors of Heidelberg City Hall pass the Falcon Monitor, Kindergarten kids and students from schools and city guides with tourists take a look.
Heidelberg is visited by many tourists, most of Japan, China, other European countries today , but is also part of the " Grand Tour Europe" - 4 countries in 5 days  - of many U.S. citizens. I often wondered why Heidelberg is so popular in the U.S.A. Now I know by asking the U.S.-tourists: Older U.S. people know Heidelberg from a popular musical in the 1930-ies "The Student Prince" (movie from 1954- very kitschy! - I like better "I was a Male War Bride" from 1949 with Cary Grant!) Many U.S. Army families live(d) in Heidelberg (European Headquarters since 1945), I think something around 20,000 persons. Our university is very famous, founded in 1386!
Hans-Martin (leaving Heidelberg for a 10-days-holiday-trip to Sicily, Italy) :waveht:

I understand Heidelberg is very beautiful, & from the pictures I've seen of it, it is! Donna must be very proud to have had a falcon named after her! :eggdance:

Hi Hans,
You're going on vacation again? :cheer
If you make a visit to Palermo, and you are not squeamish (sp?) you must see the catacombs.

Wow, you named a falcon after Donna in Columbus? :loveshow:

Hans-Martin, have a wonderful time on your trip. I didn't realize your cam was fashioned after the one in Columbus, Ohio. Very interesting. You are doing such a wonderful thing to bring this joy to so many and educating them at the same time. :bow

Back from a wonderful trip to Sicily, Italy, I watch some restlessness at JETTA & PERKEO: today is the 30th day of breeding. Already vocal interactions between chicks & parents? Who will be the first to discover something "white" under the falcons?

Welcome back, Hans-Martin..I'm sure you had a fabulous time...It probably won't be me who catches that first glimpse of white fluff..unless we can convince them to hatch on the weekend!!!

You may have already answered this question somewhere, but do you have any idea how Aurora and Phonix are doing?

We are sure/we hope - AURORA & PHOENIX are breeding on chimney at Roemerkreis 1,500 m west from Holy- Spirit- Church, because we no longer see a falcon sitting next to the nest-box on the chimney like they used to demonstrate their presence during courting. We know that our falcons are very discreet when they breed on a clutch and hurry to enter or leave the place. We have no cam there and have no chance to look into the nesting-box. I hope we will notice next week the falcons entering with prey into the nesting-box. This will prove that they are feeding chicks.
I think this week-end in both Heidelberg nesting boxes chicks will fledge.
Hans-Martin

I think Jetta is on the eggs to begin with, then she leaves and Perkeo sneaks in, but she is right back standing there putting the pressure on.

OMG, I'm not sure what I just saw, but what it looked like was the falcon dragging the egg around with it's beak by something white. The picuture is not good. Could it be trying to get the chick out? Anyway it pulled it back under and is now over it.,

I think she finally got that mean egg off and I can see some pink. I thought I saw some white under there too.

Well it was just the sweetest thing to see them both in there with that new chick. Only one so far. He brought her something to eat right away and now he is with it.

Perkeo got on the chick and the eggs.
