Well, it was nice to have the cam for an additional time this year. By the time the other nests are finished, it will be time to watch this one again. Who know, maybe ljames will discover that the cam is on from another link again!

Its been a great season. Thanks to everyone for the great pics & comments! :thanku Pru, hope to see you at some other nest sites, especially since we'll be having daylight longer starting Sunday!

Hi Pearl1

I just checked that cam link & it is displaying the frozen cam pic from over a week ago now - so I don't think they are going to refresh it :( - but it could be a good one to check from time to time as it is different from their homepage pic.

See ya round about somewhere on BCAW,

Pru

On the homepage I saw this information regarding Concorde, also Froona, Barega, and Warrun have been added to the falcon chart. :-)

2009 Band data has been recovered for Concorde, the male fledgling from Alcoa Anglesea in 2007. Concorde has been found actively defending a nest site 31km north of the Alcoa Anglesea site following the death of the previous resident male. More news will be available in 2010 of Concorde's first breeding attempt.

I sent a e-mail to Alcoa last week for a update of
the cam status and news of S&H

:? :o

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 12:04 AM

dear beth,

thank you very much for your email.

due to continuing aggression from Sheila towards our employees we have had to relocate the nest box once more.

this time it is off the water tower and in a remote location away from our main buildings.

the nest box is up but we will wait to see if Sheila and Havoc move in before the camera is installed at the new location.

manual updates will be posted on the website. not as spectacular but will have to do for now

I swear Beth, we are all on the same wave length. I too sent an e-mail and got a similar response:

both falcons have been spotted around the Station. looking for their previous
nest box no doubt.
bands have not been confirmed, but at this stage i believe we still have Sheila.

Subject:Cam for 2010
Message:I know it's only July but my friends and I are already thinking about
the Alcoa nesting season. I wanted to check for any information you can
provide. There will be a cam this year, right? Also, was wondering where the
nestbox will be located and if Sheila and Havoc had been seen hanging around. I
know there was some question as to whether or not a new female was in the area
and if perhaps something had happened to Sheila. Any pre-season you could
provide would be appreciated. Hope all is well 'down under'.

Poor little things, I can just imagine them there looking for their nestbox, but they have to do what they have to do to keep safe. Glad to know that Sheila is ok.

Thanks Beth & ljames for emailing Alcoa & sharing their replies with us. Glad to hear that it sounds like Sheila is still the resident female. Hope they decide to use the nestbox & that they can install a cam there. Otherwise, what will we do September thru November? :?

Beth and ljames - Thanks from me too for following up with Alcoa. I've got my fingers crossed that Sheila and Havoc decide to settle in the new nest box!

Wow ljames & Beth - you certainly have got all the goss' from Australia!

So now even Alcoa looks doubtful - well I think I even prefer the nest to be further away from all that machinery - I wish them all the very best - Sheila & Havoc that is
