part 3 of banding.( i had put part 2 in again but it is now corrected)

I cannot begin to tell you how I felt . I left a small part of me on the rooftop that day. she was my first falocn I ever watched. As most of you know ,Miss Edmonton is dear to my heart. I am glad tracking device is off but now I will never know where she is , if she does not come back. On the up side, I will not know if something happened to her and I would prefer to think she goes on and on. I do have her band number for ID in the future.

Now I will watch her young one and hope it fledges successfully.

OMG, so many beautiful pics, bev, I cannot decide which I like best. Thank you for taking the time to post the slideshows. Yes, it is nice to see Miss Edmonton without that device hampering her anymore. Do you know how Gord caught her to have it removed?

I keep clicking wrong buttons.
these are from August 8. the youngster is growing. He will be flying any day now.

While we wee there, both adults were suddenly on the attack. NOt sure if a hawk came too close or another juvenile falocn, but there were 3 birds and they wee right on its tail. It happened so fast.

I am impressed with this adult team. Always watching the young one. I pray for success here.

last few shots from august 8. both adults were above youngster. This was shortly after they went on attack.

Peter went down last night after work. As far as we know , no flight yet. Youngster was on back of building. Peter had all 3 in view

We had quite the storm last night so I hope all is well. will try and check today

Oh my gosh, how wonderful to see Miss Edmonton looking so beautiful and without that transmitter on. :loveshow:

And her little chick, so so cute. And now a juvie looking so grown up. I love the shot of him and his daddy too.

Such a happy story, finally, for Miss Edmonton. I sure hope that her baby fledges ok. I know you will be there to help bev. It's a big commitment to watch over these birds.

Thanks you for all the great pictures and reports that allow us to share in the adventure.
:thanku

I was taking a break but I guess I will have to wait another week.

I went down to Weber real early this morning and saw an adult on the Ramada and then looked and there was a chick. It flew sometime before i got there. I have lots of photos but Peter will have to download first.

I jsut got home and had a message form Gord and so I phoned him. Yesterday afternoon he put another male chick on the roof. It is no other the the young male that fell in the chimney at Red Deer. It is from the Red Deer tower. He would have prewarned me but thought I was still away.
so now I will check my pictures carefully and see who is who.

Peter will download tonight. so now I better watch out for these 2 until they are better at flying, and still one to fly yet.

Never a dull moment.

This is great news (except the part about you not getting a break, bev). To hear that one chick has successfully fledged and that another has found a wonderful new home, just warms my heart. :flirty: I hope the buildings around the Weber will be safer than around the hospital.

Thanks for your report Bev, & sorry you can't take a break yet. :-( I'm a little bit confused (not unusual) about the chick on the roof. Is that the chick that fledged or is it the chick from Red Deer who was on the roof, or is that what you mean by needing to determine who is who? (Glad they were able to place him with another family!) :smilesun:

Weber

I am planning on Rand R after these two at Weber get their wings under them. :siptea: :hammock: and yes :girlswingtree:

some of my friends think I need to smell the coffee more. They do not know how much I consume here   But I have lots of time for that. this year has been such an unusual year.
Yes, KF , it was a very emotional time for me. One of the highlights of my life.

I do have some store owners keeping an eye out when they can. They all have their binoculars. Don't you just love it when you get others interested. There is a older boy and girl there that have been watching also. I hope all goes well because I would really like them to see the aerial displays.
It is much more open here but not many tall buildings. Every site has its drawbacks and we have to watch for the road here.

Clinical Science

I have not downloaded pictures from recent visit as I am doing a mini fledge watch at Weber.
but last night after the Weber Peter and I blew through campus and were treated to both youngsters chasing an adult that had food in its talons. This was behind the education building.Red band male is such a squealer . Blue is more reserved. Red rested on the back of the Ed building and adult was not far away. then out of no where ,blue flew in and the chase was on. Peter went to follow them and spotted an adult coming out of the vent behind Ed building. I am assuming mom, as they were there last year.
It was hard to tell who got the food. They then put on an aerial display but it was hard to get pictures of that.

One gentleman stopped to let us know one of the kids was stooping gulls but was not successful. that was probably Red ;D ;D ;D

we saw all 4 falcons and that always puts a smile on my face. :) :)
I will post a few shots of what I have when downloaded.

I am always happy when they get to the Ed building. Much more open.

THanks for the report bev. So glad Red and Blue are coming along fine. And that Miss Edmonton's baby has somebody too now, but did I miss the part as to why the juvie from Red Deer could not be put back with his own family?
