The last days we have had only 45° F in Heidelberg, with heavy rain and strong winds. Nights were even colder. We are happy that the four juvs are safe here in their nestbox. But perhaps some juvs out in the cliffs with a lot of water coming down the rocks might drown or get drenched with humidity...

Here you can see a very wet PERKEO feeding a pigeon - fans of racing-pigeons should look away -

Four young falcons wear now "golden" Bling-Bling in Heidelberg! :loveshow:
Banding event went well at 10.30 a.m local time: JETTA & PERKEO were on tour absent, the four juvs so stunned and shocked when they were grabbed and put in a small basket! It took them some minutes to start screaming. One is female, three are tiercels, - but I kept the male names REINHARD, TOM, RALF, VALENTIN. We had to say "Thank You!" to these men who work since years for this project.
I had no time to take photos, but someone took some.
I will forward them when I get them.
Hans-Martin

Thanks for the information. I just checked in on them and they are all in a pile, so can't see their new jewelry. 3 boys and a girl. :loveshow:

Look forward to seeing pictures.

How cute (and pretty too)! Thanks Hans-Martin for the lovely pictures of the newly banded chicks. They look so darling in their wicker basket! :loveheart:

Thanks Hans-Martin. Great pictures of the chicks and the guys.

Watched a feeding a few minutes ago. I think the girl in the back and she didn't seem all that interested in eating, but I did not see the whole feeding and she may have eaten first. In the front linup, the chick in the middle kept pecking at the one on the left maybe trying to take food from it. The little guy is on the right I think. They repositioned and I lost track of who was who but the girl ended up in the back again, still not interested. Anyway the feeding lasted a pretty good while and I believe everybody who wanted something got it.

I had each of the chicks in my hands during banding. One of the boys was very light and small and in the first moment I thought the middle claw of his right foot was sort of lame... But we agreed everything is o.k. with the small "Benjamin" - as we say in German.
In the evening I watched a long feeding and small Benjamin sat in in the left corner while the other three ate greedily. Again I feared he was ill or what ever. But then finally the brothers and the sister had enough and tiny Bennie came forward and was fed sufficiently until he had had enough, too. I think, in two weeks we won´t identify this small guy no longer and he will be as big as his brothers. And usually the boys are earlier airborne than the big sister!!
8-)
Hans-Martin

Thank you for the wonderful slide-show & gratulations! AND for the compliments!!

I watched an early morning feeding. A little worrisome. The little chick didn't even try to get to the food. She came around to the side near where he was, but then I lost the connection, came back up maybe a minute later, and she was gone. I did not see him eat.
