Nice catch on the bonding kittenface. Good to see them together after such a rough year.

It must be Roger that doesn't have bands cause I know that Spirit, Polly & Horus have bands...

I think you're right, catwoman, about the bands.

Great pics of Roger, SGB!

Apparently Horus decided to move the cam a bit to change the view:

And a new peregrine nest box has been installed at 360 rue St-Jacques. The nest sites there have not been in use for the past few years. Hopefully the falcons will decide to use this good-looking nest box in 2011.

Thanks for the info about the new nestbox & Horus moving the cam, Alison! I also hope that the falcons will decide to use this nice new nestbox. :cloudnine:

The video of Horus moving the cam is funny! I'm surprised he is still around--I'd have thought he would have left the area now, but I'm always glad to see the juvies. So glad he's doing so well after all the problems this nest has had this season!

Thanks Alison for keeping everyone updated ! :-)
Horus is still around, but I don't see him very often. He seems to come back to the tower between 5-7pm to see if Spirit and Roger might have some leftovers from preys and he stays to sleep on the campus. I noticed last week that he lost his yellow tape. It was very funny to see him move the camera, he tried to do the same with the other one as well :-)

The new nestbox we got on St-Jacques is very nice, I hope the falcons will use it because the building owners want to put webcams if they do.... more fun for us ;-)

This year I was following 7 nesting sites in Montreal and around and out of those only 9 chicks made it to fledging, hopefully next year will be better !

Thanks for your post, Wizzz. Bad news about the number of chicks that survived to fledging, but good news about a possible webcam at the St. Jacques site! Mother Nature wasn't kind to falcons (at least the ones we follow) this year, young & old, so I also hope next season will be a better one!

Thank you for the update, Wizzz! It's good to have news of Horus.

I like the new nest box you installed at the site on St-Jacques. A webcam there would be great!

I am sorry that it has not been a good year for the Montreal falcons, and hope next year will be much better. I hope the little tiercel on the Pont Champlain will be able to find a new mate and that things will go much better there next year. I'd love to see a webcam at that nest, if it is at all possible.

A visitor at the nest box today:

The one in the box first called to the other, then went outside, looking for him? Anyway the 2nd one came and they bonded. Sorry, did not know which.

Great pics, ljames! The bird in your first pic is Roger, and the one stepping into the nest box is Spirit - she is the one with bands. It's good to see them both looking well.
