Only a quick visit by someone, but the night is fast approaching and I assume that Jetta will be there soon to spend the night again.

Well, she is a no-show tonight so far. Maybe the weather is better.

Back from warm and sunny Chile - saw many birds of prey there (no Peregrine Falcon) but had forgotten to take a "Field Guide to the Birds of South America" with me - to cold and dark Heidelberg I am very happy and proud to see that so many friendly persons have taken watch over PERKEO keeping his territory under control. Most time he is sitting now on top of the steeple - a double cross with him on the southern and lower arm- but I can not afford to run a 4th webcam! Thank you all for the news and snapshots!

Welcome back Hans-Martin!

So it is the male we are seing all the time now? Where would the female be then? Or has she gone a short vacation as well, seeking some sun.

This morning 11.50 I discovered via Cam1 PERKEO standing "in the door" for half an hour, - first time in 2010 I discover myself a falcon in the webcams here! When I pass the market-place and look up the church`s steeple I nearly always discover PERKEO sitting on the very top: a double metal cross. There he keeps guard over his territory sitting most time on the lower southern bar of the cross, about 70 mtrs over us, so he gets a tour-around-view what is going on in our river Neckar valley...
That is not so high as many other places, but the Church is situated in midst of the valley and every bird entering the Neckar valley has to pass this check-point. Here The Neckar leaves the mountains and flows into the flat & broad Rhine valley.
I think JETTA is around, Annette got a snapshot from both falcons in the nest-box lately, but I think their regular visits will start in february.
Thank you for your photos, - especially Dorien fot the impressive video from january, 10th!
We have sometimes trouble with the cameras and it takes 20 sec to start the view, I hope " with a little help of my friends" we`ll improve.
Thank you all for your pictures and friendly words!
Hans-Martin

Thanks Dorien for the nice video. When I watched him today, he was on the left side. He kept looking around and I thought there may be another falcon there, but never saw anybody else. Your picture is much lighter and clearer than anything I got.

Thank you for the photo! I am not sure wether it shows a fed-up PERKEO or wether it is JETTA...
Liebe Grüße from cold & windy Heidelberg!

You are so lucky to get in time on Cam 3 to discover a PERKEO waiting for his mate JETTA! :) When I take a look at the cams: Nobody is at home, or the cams are not running! But I saw PERKEO today at 13.00 perched on the cross on top of the steeple when I crossed the market-place to go to my favorite restaurant for lunch... ;)
"Cool" greetings from icy Heidelberg!
Hans-Martin
