Not Scotty, but two cute seagulls snuggled. You know we have thousands and thousands of seagulls around here even though we are as far away from the coast as you can get in SC. The 'experts' say that they love to congregate in parking lots because it reminds them of the beach, warm surface and the color of the wet sand (sort of). I'm always wondering why don't they just go back to the ocean.

We also have seagulls in parking lots, ljames, as far as we are from the ocean. The story goes that the ancestors of these seagulls were blown up thru the Chesapeake Bay into the Susquehanna River area during Hurricane Agnes & they just stayed...

Interesting catwoman. Maybe something similar happened here. I can't remember what year they first appeared, but they have not always been here. We have a man-made lake system here which includes Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee, and Hartwell lake used for power, but the gulls don't hang out there, they hang out at Walmart, Publix, the Mall, etc.

The main place I've seen them around here is at the Walnut parking lot, although there are a couple that hang around a local strip mall! (Maybe they like to shop at Walmart!)

~ After a lot of TV and press coverage the Brighton Falcon board have agreed that the birds can stay for at least the upcoming season. It gives us time to figure a way of doing the building work around the birds. It is all about health and safety they reckon. So the Brighton falcon nest camera should be up and running for 2010. Thank you everyone who signed our petition and gave us your expert views.~

I was just going to report the good news, as I got an email yesterday from Brian Smith, who is the contact on the Regency webiste which shows the webcam. I didn't realise this site had moved. I had so much trouble logging in etc and not getting notifictions of replies back last summer that I guess I just stopped looking. But have registered on here, so hopefully all will go well. And so relieved that our Brighton falcons are safe for this year at least.

Somebody sitting in the snow. Looks like they have some frozen munchies there for later. :)

This logo is in an unfortunate place.
This one was a bit talkative a few minutes ago and went over to the nestbox, but never saw the second one come, yet.

I think these might be two different falcons, even though I didn't see one fly away and the other arrive. ?

I think you're right, ljames; the markings look different.
