I'm glad you got those pics of the stringy feed. So funny. Another one (or maybe the same one) was pecking around again at that quail. I wonder how long they can let the kids stay before they would need to retrieve them.

I think you're right, Catwoman..

I wonder if they precut the quail for them in case they wanted to eat...

I imagine they were fed well before being put into the box, but chicks this young are used to eating every 3 hours or so & its been 4-1/2 hours.

Well I don't know what to think, seems like somebody would have shown some interest by now. I saw the little sweeties trying to feed themselves.

I just talked to biologist and he said not to worry. that she has even just touched down is good. Sometimes it takes over 6 hours to find them. They will be fed tonight and tomorrow morning.
they are trying to give the female every opportunity.
they are being monitored by someone at the site.
Because she is an experienced hen, it should work.

The chicks are from a breeder. The biologists were owed one from Miss Edmonton last year. that is the female and the people at the plant wanted to put a few more in. So they contributed, and were able to get 2 males from breeder.

The males are about 22 -23 days old and the female about 25 days. They put older ones in so they do not have to worry about so many feedings at first and temperature.
they are hoping we see something by tonight.

They need to start begging.

Thanks Bev--it is good to know that there is someone there keeping an eye on things & that they will be fed tonight & in the morning. How great that the employees at the plant wanted more babies! :spingirl:
