I am monitoring Edmonton area cams today for Ids of falcons
this is a new one , as I mentioned at Genesee and I do not know if it was bowing or just looking down. Something or someone in area as it looked as if talking.
also something red on talon, hopefully prey.
If a male , I will not look forward to the next few weeks.

slides show

Someone saw a falcon at the nest box this afternoon. Has not been one around for 4 days. I will have to keep watch
They felt it was very agitated. If anyone sees it can you please post a photo ,if possible. I will be going out there this weekend to check things out.

I have 30 pictures on my screen saver right now   But I think that to. I am going to fire this off to the biologist because if she agrees ,then this is last years female and she lost her transmitter. the transmitter failed early into migration and they felt this is what happened.

Unfortunately, the transmitter male is so far away.

I went back to bed and missed them both.  so we have the 2 there then. I think banded is female and no bands, male.
Same ones as before so they must have been cavorting off screen
thanks for great pictures

checking to see what time you posted ,my time.

You do not know how glad I am you got those captures SGB. thank-you so much. There were 3 falcons there this afternoon and a fight . But I am wondering if a juvenile entered the space because it was not brutal, like some fights can be.
There was talon touching and a few air hits ,then a chase east, until we could see no more. There was few more air hits, but as far as we could see no one was injured.
We first saw two soaring over the building just south of box and then the swooping and talon touching. the 3rd falocn landed on the roof of building just south of nest box while the 2 went at it. Then all 3 took off north and then two went east. One chasing the other. Hopefully no one was hurt. they went beyond our sight range. One came back and just soared way out, patrolling I think.

So we drove ,north a bit, and saw a falcon on the top of tower where we used to see one last year. so I believe this one did not do the chasing.
We were there a few hours and no one was at box while we were there. Probably patrolling. It was cold and windy.
Hope fully that will be the end of the fighting. We still have the transmitter male on his way.

Lots of hawks out there also.
Will post 2 pictures when downloaded

We could not catch the fighting on camera because it was too far for the camera. It would have been dots. We were following with our binoculars.
Of course, me being the fool I am, was saying loudly, fly away fast . Get going and please stay away.  What a nutcase I am
Picutres in nest frame
this is where nest box is.
