Have not seen Radisson at box since blues release on Monday afternoon. If anyone catches a shot could you please post.

Both kids are still flying around and cacking. wish they would not play around the cranes but they do not listen :-)

We had al 4 there on Monday but are only seeing 3 Tuesday and Wednesday evening. will have to start going earlier, but is best time to see both kids.
they were both trying to stoop pigeons with an adult last night ,late evening. finally some nice weather and they were enjoying being out later.

We have had a summer of rain and little sun.

Gprd told Peter and I they wre going to be doing this , when we were with him on Monday but I did not know if I was to divulge the information.

they did not nest there this year, but have in the past. The male that used to be the e brother of Damon. .I know a lot do not like the idea of bridges for falcons but Gord is not the least bit concerned.

thanks for posting that Carly. I never seem to get to read our paper these days.

Still looking for both our adults.

I'm just catching up on all the posts and, like obxbarb, I must say that I'm thrilled for you and Peter also. How wonderful it must have been to be there for the release and actually get to hold Blue Band!

Thanks so much for all the pictures and your excellent reporting!

Great capture, ljames. Carly, thanks for the article and link to the photos. That job of installing the box on the bridge looked really scary. :o Nice looking box, though.

Thanks CArly.
since we released Blue we have no seen mom at the box when we go. We have been only seeing 3, but last night we did see 4 . and hopefully one was Radisson.

Last night we did see and enjoy the 2 Juveniles . We did see both adults( the coloring on the ledge of one appeared different ). I am thinking they are keeping away from the kids. The molting is perhaps changing coloring and the lighting in the evening is not always the best.

Gord told us this a dangerous time for both kids and adults. the kids start chasing the adults and get more aggressive and can actually injure the adults . the adutls ,can in turn, injure a juvenile ,in attempts to keep itself safe. I have learned a lot this year.

I'm just catching up here, too....so glad you think you've spotted Miss Radisson...that's gotta be a relief...

Carly, thanks for the link to the article...those were really good pics...but, boy what a drop!!!! Nice looking nestbox, too...even had shingles on the roof...and I noticed bars in the opening...(I'm sure I've missed this somewhere) but, did someone ever say the purpose of the bars? Keep out larger raptors?

the bars are top keep the ducks out. they have taken over boxes in the past. A pair just reclaimed a box late in the season on an other bridge in east Edmonton ,after the ducks had taken it for a few seasons.

Report coming with a few pictures this evening.
Very cold here. We have taken out our ski jackets. I think we had 6 days of summer. Man oh Man!!!

I wonder if the falcons will take me with them :girlluv:

Thanks for the great shots ljames.

My computer is really acting up and so Peter and I hope to be able to get things ironed out so I can post lots of pictures from clinical science and WEber. I have been saying all year, wait till the season is over and then conk out. Well it is starting to really go. But we will have a new one for next season

But :
We saw mom and dad and we believe Blue last night.( Blue we think by size and sound) Have not seen Red since Friday nihgt but that does not mean he is not there. We had to make a trip to Weber so he could have come in later. We have had so much rain that he may have holed up somewhere.

This is the time of year that is hard for me. It is so quiet and I long to hear the squawking   Blue just gave out a few cacks as she flew in beside mom last night and mom immediately flew off and went over to med building. ( mom had been on the south aerial of college Plaza and Blue landed right beside her.) But when dad came in and landed on the top south corner of Newton apartments , I was so thrilled. To see both adults together and not far away from each other, is something we have not seen for awhile. Now we know things are winding down. We watched until dad turned in for the night.
Blue had not moved when we left.
Peter and I will continue to monitor till we leave on a holiday Sept17. by then the kids will be gone but adults will still be here.

Weber:

Our young fellow has been flying 3 weeks today. He is doing great but we still get heart attacks when he is taking food fro mom. they are so low during the exchanges.

Mr. WEber is flying up a storm and loves to chase after dad.

Last night when we we went first time we saw our young man fly off WEber roof and land beside box and then he went off soaring. No sign of adults. Then a storm came up so we went to University.

We went back to Weber just before dark and saw no one,. Now time to investigate. Not knowing where the haunts are yet, we found young Mr. Weber and dad on another building, facing south. They were on the letters. the building is the nest highest in area(where Gord originally wanted to put nest box). He told me dad may roost here to get away from junior.  That sure worked .

We went on lower roof of Weber to check out things just before we left and all of a sudden I saw 2 falcons out of the corner of my eye.(it was quite dark) one had food in talons. and I heard a bit of cacking(I had not gotten out of car yet so cacking was faint.) I am assuming young Mr. had food in talons as it was last and the other was ahead. We quickly went around back and saw mom on the W of WEber and we are assuming kid was on a roof eating or on Weber roof. Too dark to see. (Being the worrier, I am, I was hoping the kid got to eating spot O.K., with it being dark and all) We quickly drove over to other building and dad was still there. Good lookout point from there. (they have had quite a few intruders passing through). So we will keep watching here very closely for signs of the young Mr. being independent with hunting. We have seen him trying to stoop.

I am still waiting to hear about the Red Deer youngster. I know Gord is very busy, so I do not bug him. I know Gord so wanted this to work out on Weber for the Red Deer male. He wanted him to be with a family , but I think the smoke got the best of him that day he was found. This is one thing that is so cool for me. Peter and I spent a lot of time with Gord this year and he is just so passionate about the peregrines and after all these years of working with them , his passion for them just shines through. It is so infectious and we have learned so much.
At some sites the biologists have gotten complacent , but not here.
Heaven help us, when Gord is no longer in this position. We are very lucky.

I have tons of picutres and will share them, when we get my program up to speed again. but I guess I will only post the best of the thousands I have :-)

Thanks for your report, Bev! Glad to hear things are going well, except for no news about the Red Deer youngster. It certainly sounds like you're very lucky to have Gord! :dancing3:

I'll look forward to seeing your pictures when you get a chance & your computer cooperates.

Thanks bev. for the wonderful reports. I'm so glad that young Weber is doing so well. How thrilling it must be to watch his progress, and knowing that Miss Edmonton has her own home and family now.

Glad you saw Mom, Dad, and Blue too. I guess little Red is pretty much so advanced that he no longer needs the parents' care that much. I know that you hate to see them go though, since you won't be able to look after them then. But they will do fine, I'm sure and who knows, we may see them at a nest in the future. :-)

Look forward to pictures, but whenever. It will give us something to look at when things are slow. 1000's should keep us occupied.
