awe poor eagle! wonder where the nest was that she fledged from. From the story i guess she wasnt banded so that rules out any of the eaglets that would have fledged up river at the john heinz wildlife refuge in tinecum twp by the philly airport. I know there are alot of eagles nesting across the river in salem county nj. At least she wont be released to be on her own in WV like the wilmington sisters :x

Hmm is that the Santa Cruz island off ventura ca? If it is, i have been following the BAEA nests there and the research biologists in their repors to the forum i am part of often see peregrines there. IF i were a peregrine its a lovely locale to raise a family with lots of rocky cliffs and such to set up scrapekeeping. Very little to fly into such as the bad windows that urban falcons have problems with. Also a good supply of yummy scrub jays, flickers and other poultry in what appears to be ample amounts (fwiw)

Pigeon and mourning dove on the menu today in Wilmington. Comfort food.

Great article on the Eagle Reenie. So glad they found it in time. Kudos to TriState this time! Glad they are there, for all the fallen.
Also Kim , that was a cute clip of the boy after RG. I could see His mouth open, so He was screaming at Her.
Greg, nice to have comfort food often.

That sucks that the eagle will have to be in captivity the rest of his life.

Very true Kim. Hard to see them caged. but I guess He won't survive otherwise.

Just watched your video a couple times, Kim. Looked like Red Boy to me. Hope you get into town tomorrow and see the family. And sad as it may be able the juvie eagle, it sounds like he/she wouldn't be able to survive in the wild. I don't like to see them caged, either.

KIM WAS DOWNTOWN EARLY THIS MORNING. SO FAR, ONLY SEEING ONE BOY :-( FOG AND MIST DOWN THERE THIS MORNING :-(

5:03 3 BIRDS ON BW BLDG.

5:09 LOOKS LIKE 2 FLEW WHILE SHE WASN'T LOOKING.

5:11 THE ONE STILL ON BLDG LOOKS LIKE CJ. LOOKS LIKE RG ON NESTBOX LEDGE OR IT MIGHT BE ONE OF THE BOYS.

5:21 DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BOYS ON THE NESTBOX LEDGE. NOT MAKING A SOUND, MAYBE NOT HUNGRY.

5:43 CJ FLYING AROUND AND KID STAYING PUT SO FAR.

5:44 KID FLEW THE OTHER WAY AND IS ON WSFS BLDG. SHE GOT A PIC TO SEE WHICH BOY IT IS LATER.

6:02 SHE REALLY HAS THE FEELING THE OTHER KIDS ISN'T AROUND SINCE THEY WOULD BE PLAYING TOGETHER BY NOW WITH THE COOLER TEMPS AND THE BREEZE.

6:04 SHE HEARS SCREAMING FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION AND SAW A FALCON FLYING TOWARDS BLDG NEXT TO HER'S. SHE DIDN'T HEAR THE SCREAMING VERY WELL, SO IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN ADULT.

6:07 ONE BOY STILL SITTING ON THE WSFS BLDG. NICE OF HIM TO SIT WHERE SHE CAN STILL SEE HIM :-)

7:13 KIDS STILL SITTING ON THE WSFS BLDG. ACTING MORE LIKE AN ADULT EACH DAY, SITTING IN THE SAME SPOT FOR HOURS.

Thanks Kim and Reenie for the relay. Wonder about the other boy. But when you consider how elusive LO is right now in HBG? Ah! the letting GO is so hard to do.

My thanks also to Kim for being a REAL early bird, and for Reenie to posting this morning. Looked at the video from yesterday again this morning, and still thought it was Red Boy in the nest box. The white tape is very easy to pick out, and just couldn't see that.

I agree Jane that it was RB in the video with RG! I just looked at my picture and the kid I saw this morning was also RB.

WB may be out at the beach. Years ago a male from a Pittsburgh nest (with a telemetry rig) already had left home by this time in July:

http://www.peregrine-foundation.ca/prog ... 15114.html

His travels are amazing -- Pittsburgh to the New Jersey coast, then wintering on both the Jersey and Delaware sides of Delaware Bay, side trips to Richmond, VA and Johnstown PA, then up to Hamilton Ontario. looking for a rich widow.

No MA, definitely not getting much sleep and it's starting to catch up with me so I think I'm hitting the sack soon even though it's only 6:30! Good thing I don't have a life! I'll be stopping by to see if WB is around in the AM and will send Reenie a txt message or two. :)
I have a feeling he's already left town though because I think "the boys" would have been chasing each other playing this morning if he was still around.

This Red-bellied Woodpecker says don't even THINK about coming after me you falcons! This is a picture I got this morning after visiting the falcons and thought I would post it since the falcons seem to catch a lot of them. :(

Does anyone with a better memory than me remember if it was CJ who was fighting with Caesar in the nestbox last March? Or maybe we never determined who it was? When I was just looking at the video, it looks like the one bird has white tape on the right leg.

Kim, I remember that fight, & I believe we never figured out who it was. I would be very surprised if CJ would have fought Caesar, since falcons are supposed to recognize their parents. Unfortunately, I didn't hear how long that is to go on, whether its just when they're juvies or whether they would recognize them as adults. It is one of the many questions concerning falcons that I'd love to find out! From info I've heard from other people who observe falcons, & stories about a son taking over from his father without a territorial dispute, I'm inclined to think they do know them as adults. (Don't know whether the father recognizes the son, though.)

I remember the fight pictures, but not as to who it was. It was very disturbing I remember. Get some rest Kim. You have to be beat. Hope you see both boys tomorrow.

Greg your story is amazing. Goes to show how far they can go and in many different directions. I'm thinking of the Girls now.

Kim your Woodpecker is beautiful!
