First fledge at the Terminal Tower; it's Spark!

From the site:

Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 6:34 pm one of the juvenile Peregrines took its first flight as captured in this image from the wide angle camera. The juvie was observed on the ground on Public Square below the Terminal Tower by Tower City security and Cleveland Police officers who then saw it take flight and land on a utility wire below a streetlight at the intersection of Superior and West Roadway. It remained there until dark.

And an update from Scott Wright a few minutes ago:

Ok, got home from work and had message that one was on the ground in front of the building. Security tried for a grab but Spark got away and landed on some wires 220v under a street light on West Roadway and superior. I got back downtown at 12 midnight and stayed till 2:15am.

Went home walked dog and stayed up and got back downtown by 5:45a.

He finally flew at 9:15am to the ballroom roof above the parking lot on the hotel, west 6th and Superior.

He got attacked by a gull and Boomer made 3 flybys and scared the gull off. He took a nap at 11:30am, and it was time for me to go sleepy bed time after being up for nearly 30+ hours before I edited images and got a 2 hour nap.

I'm so glad that Scott and others are watching over these chicks.

I'm also glad to hear that Scott is watching out for these babies. Way to go Boomer--protect these kids! :thumbegg:

The one reminds me of Boomer when he was at columbus.

I hope this one stays safe. Hate the wires but our little one at Weber always ended up on wires. He appears safe right now.

Thanks for sharing those great pictures of Spark, Alison! He's just soooo cute! :flirty:

So glad he made it back to the nest. Now he can tell his siblings what the big, scary world is like!

Two of the chicks were in the nest yesterday evening.

Today, an update on the chicks from the home page:

Female Falcons Fledging Fast

Sorry about the alliteration. Scott Wright reported on Monday, June 6, 2011 that he had to rescue Soarer from the 4th floor roof of the Terminal Tower directly below the nest and move her back to the 12th floor ledge. She was unable to get sufficient lift to get off the 4th floor roof. She appeared hungry and tired. S/W took care of that by bringing in prey and taking the time to feed her.

Scott also observed Savvy perched atop the Renaissance Hotel and watched her fly back to the nest area.

Scott did not see Spark who fledged last Wednesday. Spark was observed on Friday flying very successfully around Public Square.

I'm glad Scott was there to rescue Soarer and keep an eye on Savvy. I hope Spark is still doing well and flying safely.

Thanks Alison.

I find that you sometimes have to spend hours in area to finally catch up with them all.

Hope all is well.

Gord always tells me to watch for the girls but in 2009 , it was all boys we had to rescue.

One of the juvies visited the nest this afternoon, probably Savvy or Soarer.

A juvie returned to the nest later in the evening; perhaps planning to spend the night.

Scott Wright saw all three juvies flying last Wednesday, and posted some great photos:

On Saturday I found SW at the nest box for a short visit; she looks really good.
