Some pictures from this morning...

:(
Image

She sat on the roof calling for a long time after she got the bird from CJ. After 10 mins or so she flew off with it and I guess she added it to their cache because she came right back without it.

I was wrong about the cuckoo, it looks like a Blue Jay.

Thanks! That was actually a take off, not a landing!

Wow - Awesome pictures, Kim! CJ and Red Girl look so beautiful in flight. What with having to provide for and deal with their "out of control" kids, I'm surprised they don't look frazzled.

Fantastic pictures, Kim. Couldn't ID the second prey, but first one was obviously a Red-bellied Woodpecker. I do much better when I don't know what the prey is!

Magnificent pictures, Kim.

I agree, Blue Jay. Is the one carrying it CJ? I thought that it was Red Girl at first because the cheek look pretty white, but this bird looks slimmer with narrower wings than the Red Girl shots.

Red Girl looks more blue-gray and less brownish than she did a year ago.

CJ started feeding the chicks, and then Red Girl arrived to help out.

Must have just missed that feeding. Chicks were very active when I tuned in. Several flapping like crazy, and one with its head about even with the top of the box trying to get a look at the outside world. Love seeing both CJ and Red Girl doing the feeding.

Cute video, Reenie. The little chick watching kept getting hit by the chick dancing around - I'm surprised he didn't fall over!

OH MY KIM!!! What beautiful pictures. Have to say I'm like Jane about the dinner menu. Hard to see that, but so beautiful in it's reality. Reenie your video is adorable. Thanks for all of it today. They are advancing fast.

Thanks for the video, Reenie! I'm even more convinced now that Red & CJ have 4 daughters & one son. I guess the daughters are payback to Red for what she & her 3 sisters put her parents through. The boy must be to show the parents that raising a family has its rewards! :flirty:

BTW, Kim or Greg, do the chicks here usually return to the nest for a while after they fledge?

I'm guessing that they should fly in the second week of June. They will be obvious in the neighborhood of the nest site for another month or month and a half but I don't know if they visit the box or not. My guess is yes but we haven't had the camera long enough to see a brood that flew.
