Happy New Year Cleveland! :ny4:

First post of the year is a good one!

Posted tonight by Chad&Chris@ CMNH,
"Happy New Year to all! Ranger is continuing to do well. Laura has him on a twice-daily exercise routine with flight laps in his cage. If all continues to go well it looks promising for a late-winter release. Planning to go out there on Tuesday, so we should have more information afterward."

That is such great news.. :ny5: .thanks for posting it, Mick...

I have such mixed feelings...I think it only fair that Ranger return, if he chooses to...but I don't want to lose Boomer...and I certainly don't want to get word of a Boomer/Ranger fight!!!!

Yeah, me too. Poor little Ranger, he deserves another chance, but I want Boomer to stay too. I am anxious about how this will end. :-(

Maybe he'll be like Mariah, come back but not challenge. I would sure miss knowing of him, but I would miss not knowing Boomer very much.

You know...even though I would miss the knowing of Ranger, it would be enough to know that he's healthy and flying free somewhere. I guess I'd rather he follow a different path than one that leads to TT.

I thought of another example, this one a tiercel, that returned to his nest after rehab & did kind of hang around but I didn't hear of any reports of fighting. This tiercel is called Milton, & he was the tiercel at the Toronto Residential nest until he was injured. Then Jack from a neighboring nest moved in on Milton's "woman" & actually took care of this nest & his original nest this past season. Carly would know more about whether he's left the area now or is perhaps still hanging around.

I also have mixed feelings about whether I want to see Ranger or Boomer here. I believe I've heard that there are a number of falcon nests around Cleveland, so there may be enough nesting territories to go around.

Thanks, Carly for the "whole" story. I just hope we end up with a calm, quiet nesting season this year!

Poor Milton, maybe he will hook up with TR mom this year and Jack will stay with Angel only. I hope. I don't want anything bad to happen to little Boomer.

Chad & Chris went out to see Ranger at Medina Raptor today.
They have posted pictures at CMNH forum.

Here is C&C's post,
"Made it out to see Ranger at the MRC today. Got there just after feeding, so he still had some food on his beak in these shots. Worked him in the cage by making him fly the length of it about 10 times. He looked good, landing his perches without a problem. Dr. Riggs said that he doesn't seem to have any eye problems. We've been discussing possible release locations with Laura, but nothing has been decided yet."

I don't like to take personal images from one site to another - Go over and look at the photos :P

I agree that it will be interesting to see where they decide to release him. They apparently have the same concerns about a battle between Ranger & Boomer that we do. Well, there's really nothing we can do about it--this will be between the 2 tiercels. Cute pictures--thanks, Mick!

Thanks Carly and Mick...I remember the fight-we couldn't believe they release Milton so close to egg hatching time.

I am very happy that Ranger is doing so well - he looks wonderful! I am especially glad that he does not seem to have any eye problems.

I send my thanks too Alison. Love Boomer's silvery-white chin and chest.

All of this talk about releasing Ranger; I really hope that the falconer and Chad and Chris will work things out so that he can be released and that Boomer will be safe where he is; after not knowing where he was for 2 years and now we have him close to home, I would hate to see anything happen to Boomer - he is indeed a very special falcon. We watched him hatch, fledge and grow into a strong bird. I just know, because of his strong upbringing from our dear Scout and Orville that he will be an excellent father too. It is also one way to stay close to both Scout and Orville watching Boomer
